The church becomes most powerful when forgiven people forgive one another, starting the whole process of Forgiveness for people not just inside the church but also outside the church.
A forgiving church is a living testimony of the resurrection.
Growing Pains: When God Stretches His Church explores how seasons of growth—though sometimes uncomfortable—are signs of God’s gracious activity among His people. From overflowing boats and crowded rooms to tired leaders, expanding needs, and uncertain next steps, Scripture shows again and again that growth is never our achievement but God’s gift and invitation. In this series, we’ll discover how abundance calls us to stewardship, how shared ministry strengthens the body, how creative faith opens space for others, and how God equips His people with every gift needed for the mission. Ultimately, we’ll be reminded that the Church moves forward not by our strength or strategy, but by confidence in Christ, our unshakable foundation, who leads us into the future one faithful step at a time.

Join Lynn Meyer for a meaningful 7-week journey into understanding and practicing forgiveness.
Ladies, if we live near people or work with people, we need to be prepared to forgive. And as long as we have air in our lungs, we will also need to be forgiven. Forgiveness is the great leveler—we all want it, but we don’t always want to extend it. Girlfriends, let’s learn to do this well together.
Due to high interest, we’ve added an additional Thursday morning session from 9:00–11:00 AM beginning May 21. Please note that the Thursday evening session (6:00–8:00 PM) is already full.
We will be using Lysa Terkeurst’s workbook and book, Forgiving What You Can’t Forget.

We will be celebrating her this Sunday following the 10:30 AM service with cake and fellowship.
We would also love for families to join us for an additional celebration on Monday, May 18th from 5:00–7:00 PM at Station 7. Timothy's Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) will begin collecting disposable diapers of all sizes and donate them to Happy Bottoms in an effort of helping them keep their shelves stocked. This organization, based in Kansas City, partners with social service agencies and hospitals to assure babies and toddlers from low-income families have access to clean diapers for their child's health care and comfort. The collection will run Mother's Day through Father's Day and the congregation is welcome to make a contribution to help these little ones. The diapers may be left in the container available in the lobby.

Every baptism is a gift—God welcoming a child into His family. One way our congregation celebrates that gift is by giving a Faith Chest: a simple wooden chest that can be used as an altar and to hold a Bible, devotional books, a baptism candle, pictures, and keepsakes that help a child remember, “I am baptized into Christ.”
These chests are made with care by members of our church family, and we would love to invite more hands and hearts to help build them. If you enjoy woodworking, there is a place for you in this project.
Build: cut, assemble and sand chests.
Supply support: donate wood, or gift cards (a Thrivent gift card can be used) to offset costs.
Pray: lift each baptized child and family as the chest is made and gifted.
If you’d like to help build (or support) a Faith Chest, please reach out to the church office at 816-228-5300—we’ll connect you with the materials you’ll need. You don’t have to be an expert, just be willing to help.
Thank you for helping us provide these beautiful baptismal gifts for our littlest members.
During the month of May, our donations will be collected in support of Jesus El Buen Lutheran Church, a ministry making a meaningful impact in its community. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together in service and generosity as we help meet the needs of others.
A donation cart will be available in the church lobby with a list of current needs for Jesus El Buen Lutheran Church. Please take a moment to stop by, review the list, and consider how you might help. Every contribution—large or small—makes a difference.
Thank you for your continued faithfulness and willingness to serve. Your generosity truly reflects Christ’s love in action.

Jesus forgives from the cross—before repentance, before apology, before understanding. Forgiveness often begins as a decision before it becomes a feeling.
Forgiveness is not pretending it didn’t hurt—it’s trusting Christ with the hurt.

This Sunday, we invite you to join us as we celebrate and give thanks for the special women God has placed in our lives. Whether it’s your mom, grandmother, or a cherished mentor, we encourage you to stop by our festive photo backdrop and take a moment to capture a meaningful memory together.
As a small token of appreciation, flowers will be distributed to all ladies following the service. We are grateful for the love, strength, care, and faith that women share within our church family and beyond.
Happy Mother’s Day! We look forward to celebrating with you and honoring the women who bless our lives in so many ways.
Ladies, have you ever been hurt… no, I mean really hurt by someone’s words or actions? Or have you said or done something that you replay in your mind wishing for a different outcome? As women, I think we have all experienced this. I have and I am desperate for the healing and freedom that Pastor Ryan preached about last weekend.
You are invited to join me, Lynn Meyer, on a 7 week journey toward freedom. We will be using Lysa Terkeurst’s book and video entitled, ‘Forgiving what you can’t forget’, as our guide. Music, delicious food, laughter, and lively conversation filled the room as ladies gathered for the LWML Tea Party last Saturday. Festive hats added a charming touch and helped set a joyful tone for the day. Following The TeaCup Story devotion, guests enjoyed the first course of cherry blossom appetizers, petite sandwiches, and fresh fruit while listening to beautiful selections performed by members of Timothy’s school concert band, accompanied by the Second Wind Woodwind Trio.
The afternoon continued with assembling May baskets and creating greeting cards for Timothy’s homebound members. A delightful dessert course of cheesecake bites and butter cookies followed before a brief business meeting and the installation of new officers. Thank you to all members and guests who helped make this spring event such a meaningful and successful celebration of fellowship and service.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday to help fill holes in the parking lot! Your time, hard work, and willingness to serve made a noticeable difference, and we are truly grateful for every helping hand.
This project was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our church family—many hands truly do make light work, and the result is a smoother, safer parking lot for all. Thank you for coming with such generous spirits and positive attitudes. Your service is deeply appreciated and a blessing to our Timothy community.
The LWML Spring Society Meeting is happening tomorrow, May 2nd, and you’re invited to join us for a delightful afternoon of fun and fellowship. The meeting will take place from 1:00–3:00 p.m. and will feature a charming Tea Party theme.
Guests can look forward to great food, warm fellowship, and plenty of opportunities to relax and connect with one another. Come enjoy an afternoon of laughter, conversation, and community as we celebrate spring together. We hope to see you there!
As we look ahead to the coming school year, Timothy Lutheran School will have three School Board member terms concluding in May. In preparation, we are seeking three new individuals who are willing to prayerfully serve our school community by joining the Timothy Lutheran School Board.
Serving on the School Board is a meaningful way to support the mission and ministry of Timothy Lutheran School. Board members help guide long‑term vision, provide faithful leadership, and partner with administration to ensure Timothy remains a Christ‑centered place of academic excellence.
We encourage anyone with a heart for Christian education, a desire to serve, or an interest in leadership to consider this opportunity. Experience in education, finance, leadership, or strategic planning is a gift—but most important is a willingness to serve and support Timothy Lutheran School.
If you would like more information or would like to explore what serving on the School Board involves, please email: TLS_schoolboard@timothylutheran.com
Please keep the School Board and this selection process in your prayers as we seek God’s guidance for the future of Timothy Lutheran School.
All 4th and 5th graders at Timothy Lutheran Church and School are invited to join us for an Ice Cream Social on Sunday, May 3rd, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. This fun and festive gathering is the final 4th & 5th grade event of the school year.
Come enjoy ice cream, fellowship, and time with friends as we wrap up a great year together. We look forward to celebrating with you—don’t miss it!
Thursday May 7th is the National Day of Prayer. Join Pastor Kendall and Pastor Ryan and the Blue Springs ministerial alliance as they gather outside City Hall in Blue Springs to pray for our city, communities, and country. Event starts at noon and will wrap up no later than 12:30pm. Please reach out to Pastor Ryan if you have any questions.
Fun Day is one of the most anticipated events of the year for our students—a full day of games, activities, and celebration to wrap up the school year, including special visits from our first responders and a fire truck finale! It’s also an important day that gives teachers uninterrupted time to complete end‑of‑year work, which means we rely heavily on volunteers. Fun Day truly takes a village, and even a small time commitment makes a big difference. Without enough volunteers, we cannot run the day as planned, so we sincerely appreciate your support!
As your calendars flip to May and the summer months, the Women of Hope leadership team invites Timothy's ladies to mark your calendars for a fun fellowship event again this year! Grades 3–5 packed food bags and made encouraging cards for those experiencing homelessness, benefiting Care Beyond the Blvd. Students in grades 6–8 tied fleece blankets for teens facing trauma, illness, or crisis for The Linus Project.
Also on Wednesday, approximately 60 Confirmation students and their Prayer Pals worked together to pack 200 sack lunches for the Metro Lutheran Ministry food pantry—a wonderful example of our young people serving the community.
On Thursday, April 16, sixteen volunteers served at Harvesters, sorting and packing carrots, oranges, potatoes, and apples.
Saturday morning, April 18, three adults and four children helped lead bingo at Ignite in Blue Springs. Later that day, two groups of six volunteers served locally at Restore on Highway 7. Saturday evening, 18 adults and two children packed 112 “Birthday in a Box” kits for Harvesters.
The week concluded on Sunday, April 19, with sixteen members of Timothy Lutheran Church and School serving at Ronald McDonald House. One group served dinner at Longfellow House, while another served at Wylie House. A pulled pork dinner prepared by Ken Holland was enjoyed by 100 guests.
It was an inspiring week of service, generosity, and faith in action.
Our heartfelt thanks to our Timothy family for all the cards, calls, visits, and prayers during these past months. It was a blessing to be able to worship with you last Sunday.”

More than five hundred witnesses stood before the risen Christ, yet Thomas remained trapped in the shadows of what he could not see. We are told Jesus is alive and personally present, but how do we reconcile a visible Savior with our invisible reality? We praise God for the gift of faith, yet many of us still wrestle with the silence of an unseen Lord. If He is truly standing here among us, what is He saying to your specific doubt? Join us as we bridge the gap between sight and belief to discover what Jesus has to say.
Because Christ has fully forgiven us through His cross and resurrection, we are freed—and called—to practice forgiveness as a way of life. Forgiveness does not deny sin or pain; it confronts sin with grace, truth, and resurrection of hope.

We invite you to take a moment to explore and enjoy the new images and branding as you encounter them across our platforms. While the visuals are new, our heart, values, and commitment to sharing God’s love remain the same.

“I, like many of you, participated in Pastor Ryan's "Wrestling with the Word" workshops. There were two of them. I read my Bible about 6 days a week. I'm not fast but I've been through it once and about three-fourths the way a second time. I also have a study Bible which is hugely helpful with understanding. Nothing prepared me for the depth and knowledge I would gain from the S-O-A-P study method taught by Pastor Ryan! Also, the excitement of learning in a new and deeper way. It was challenging at first as getting started often is. The word God put on my heart for 2026 is "Serve." I used that to get started and plan to continue. It's a little different than just picking a verse. I am learning what the Bible has to say about Serving and so much more! Thank you Pastor Ryan! And for those of you who haven't started, JUST DO IT! Your reward will be so much more than you could ever imagine.” From Shanna Hanson.
If you signed up to serve at a Shine event taking place next week, please be sure to pick up your event shirt.
👕 Shirts will be available this Sunday morning at the Shine shirt table. If you are unable to stop by on Sunday, don’t worry—shirts will also be available for pickup all week in the church lobby during regular business hours:
🕗 Monday–Friday | 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Life can get hectic, and we all need moments to pause, reconnect, and recharge. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to the next Oasis Family Night on Wednesday, April 8, from 6:00–7:30 PM!
This month, our Bible focus will be the powerful moment in Luke 22:47–52, where Jesus heals the servant’s severed ear even amid chaos and betrayal. It’s a striking reminder of His compassion, His refusal to meet violence with violence, and His unwavering commitment to bring healing and restoration—even in the darkest moments. Families will explore this story together as we discover what it means to follow Jesus’ example of grace, peace, and love when life feels tense or overwhelming.
Oasis is all about creating a laid back environment where you can find renewal for your soul and reconnect with one another in the middle of a busy week.
RSVP today! Click the “Register Here” button or visit our website to sign up so we can plan for food. We can’t wait to share this evening of faith, fellowship, and renewal with you!
This spring, Alec and Natalie Bray are opening their home and hearts to lead a new small group designed to help people grow in faith and build meaningful community. Meeting weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM, this group will officially begin April 15th, and children are welcome.
Alec and Natalie share a passion for creating Christ-centered spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged. As parents to their daughter, Aurora, they value cultivating a home centered on faith—but their vision for this group reaches far beyond families with young children. Their desire is to bring together individuals from all walks of life who are seeking connection and spiritual growth.
They believe that faith grows best within authentic community—where people can ask honest questions, share real-life struggles, celebrate victories, and pray for one another. Whether you are single, married, raising children, or navigating a new season of life, this group is designed to be a place where you belong.
Alec brings steady leadership and a heart for helping others live with purpose, while Natalie’s natural gift for hospitality and building relationships helps people feel comfortable and truly seen. Together, they hope to cultivate a group atmosphere marked by grace, encouragement, and spiritual growth for both adults and children.
If you’re looking for connection, community, and a place to grow in your faith, consider joining Alec and Natalie’s small group this season.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of representing Timothy at a workday with Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity. Our team gathered at the future home located at 1523 Appleton Avenue in the Englewood area of Independence, where we completed the important first step of installing the floor joists—the very first pieces of lumber placed on this new house.
The attached photo captures the seven volunteers who served together that day. It was truly a blessing to work alongside such a capable and dedicated group. Most were experienced carpenters, joined by two staff members from Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity who organized and guided the building day with skill and encouragement.
I am grateful for each volunteer who offered not only their labor, but their spirit of generosity and teamwork. Praise God for these willing and gracious servants, whose efforts will help create a safe and stable home for a family in need.

On March 29, members of the Faith, Family, and Fatherhood Bible Study Group (Young Fathers) had the opportunity to put their faith into action by serving at Our Redeemer in Kansas City. Through their time and efforts, these young fathers shared Christ’s love in practical ways while strengthening their bonds with one another.
This act of service reflects the heart of the group’s mission—to grow as Christ‑centered leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. It was a meaningful day of fellowship, service, and living out faith together, and we give thanks for their willingness to serve and represent Timothy Lutheran so well.

Join us as we reflect on the love that kneels to wash feet, breaks bread for sinners, and never let’s go.
On Good Friday, we remember a Savior who knows suffering firsthand. Revelation 2:8–11 reminds us that even in the face of trials, persecution, and death, Christ promises faithfulness, courage, and eternal life. Join us as we reflect on the hope that shines through suffering and the victory won on the cross.

This spring, mothers are invited to join a new small group led by Courtney Schmidt, offering a supportive space to explore the real and sometimes difficult topics of motherhood through a biblical lens. The Mom’s Small Group will begin on April 9th at 6:00 PM and meet biweekly on Thursdays in the Timothy Library.
This group is designed to walk alongside moms as they navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood. Together, participants will study Grace in Chaos: Biblical Hope for Hard Days of Motherhood by The Daily Grace Co., a resource that speaks honestly to the demanding seasons many moms face.
Throughout the study, Courtney will lead discussions on topics such as:
The Identity Shift — discovering who you are in Christ beyond being “just” a mom
Mom Guilt & Comparison — navigating the pressure to be perfect in a social‑media‑driven world
Biblical Self‑Care — understanding rest and care as faithful stewardship, not selfishness
Finding Peace in the Chaos — leaning on Scripture when life feels loud and overwhelming
The Loneliness of Motherhood — building authentic community during isolating seasons
If you’re a mom longing for biblical truth, meaningful conversation, and supportive community, this group is for you. Join us this spring and connect with other moms navigating similar seasons of life.
Last Friday evening, Timothy ladies and friends enjoyed a rousing rendition of Crazy Bridge and the opportunity to become better acquainted with other Sisters in Christ. The Women of Hope leadership team now gives you a heads up to mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 17, 6-8pm, to enjoy fellowship and a live, free concert in the outdoor courtyard area at Powell Gardens Colonial Farms. More details coming soon.
The Lutheran Urban Mission Association Auxiliary met on March 18 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence. The featured speaker for the meeting was Shelby Carpenter from Mothers Refuge, who shared updates on their ministry and mission.
The ingathering for the day focused on non‑perishable food items. In addition, Timothy contributed 100 tuna pouches for sack lunches—generously donated by Blue Springs Price Chopper South. Adding a special touch, the preschool children of King of Kings decorated the luncheon bags with cheerful artwork.
Join us the week of April 10–19 as we come together to serve our community in meaningful ways! From hands‑on projects to donation opportunities, there’s a place for everyone to make a difference.
Can’t participate during those dates? You can still help—check the sign‑ups for donation and support options.
Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus. Invite a friend, spread the word, and let’s SHINE together!

Philadelphia was small yet faithful. But the warning is made known- to ignore Christ’s open door is to risk being locked out forever. We are encouraged to hold on to our faith though weak, and cling to His word and trust His promised security.
Join us the this Wednesday March 25th as Youth Mexico Mission Trip group serves tacos. Dinner served at 6:00 pm and service starts at 6:30 pm.
Worship service theme: What’s it Going to Be?
If you’ve ever seen Sunday School lessons about Jonah usually Jonah walks away with a happily ever after story. But the real Jonah isn’t so stoked. Instead, he takes issue with the kind of God that would be merciful to such awful sinners. And this requires him and us to do some real soul searching. Do we really desire God to be merciful to all?
There are seasons when settling feels safe—even necessary. But Lent invites us to ask deeper questions: Have we settled for “good enough” in our walk with Christ and in the life of the church? Have we grown comfortable with our strengths while ignoring the areas where we struggle or cling to sin?
This Lenten series challenges us to move beyond complacency. Through the lens of Jesus’ messages to the seven churches in Revelation, we’ll hear His words of affirmation, correction, and encouragement. Each week, we’ll examine what it means to pursue Jesus wholeheartedly—not just in the areas we excel, but especially in the places we’ve settled.
Let’s allow this season to stir us, refine us, and call us to a deeper, more faithful pursuit of Christ—one that refuses to settle for “good enough.”
Laodicea was comfortable but spiritually lukewarm. Jesus calls us to wholehearted devotion, accepting His gentle correction and walking with zeal as His followers.
This Easter, we will wrap up our series on the 7 churches in Revelation by looking at Revelation 1:4–8 and hear the risen Christ proclaim, “I am the Living One.” Discover how His victory brings grace, peace, and unshakeable hope in a world hungry for good news. Join us as we celebrate the Savior who was dead and now lives forever.

The people of Nineveh don’t simply carry on with their sin. They fear God and they pursue repentance and even make their animals participate. But they are left with a huge uncertainty...Does God care enough to relent? Who knows? Tonight, we find out what kind of God this is.

This February, our homebound members were reminded once again just how deeply they are loved by their church family.
This Valentine’s season brought an outpouring of love, creativity, and connection to our homebound members—all thanks to the beautiful partnership between our Care Ministry, our amazing youth, and the elders.
The Care Ministry prepared the Valentine goodie bags, each one filled with treats that brightened the day of every recipient. Many of our homebound members shared how deeply touched they were by the surprise and how meaningful it felt to be remembered in such a special way.
One of the biggest hits of the delivery? The cozy tied fleece hats lovingly crafted by our youth. Each hat, tied by hand, was unique—colorful, soft, and made with care. Our homebound members didn’t just appreciate them… they had fun with them! The elders were able to capture photos of a few members modeling their new hats with big smiles. The hats warmed more than their heads—they warmed their hearts. The cards, filled with cheerful drawings and uplifting messages, were treasured just as much.
The collaboration between our youth and Care Ministry beautifully demonstrated what happens when different parts of the church come together in service: love multiplies, connections strengthen, and God’s joy shines through.
This year’s Valentine outreach didn’t just deliver gifts—it delivered warmth, community, and the reminder that no one in our congregation is forgotten.
