First Reading: Joshua 3:5-17 Gospel Reading: Luke 5:1-11
Faith moves forward because Christ has already gone before us.
Moving forward would be easier if God provided every answer in advance: the exact cost, the complete timeline, unanimous agreement, guaranteed outcomes, and a view of every challenge. We often confuse faith with certainty and obedience with the absence of risk. Joshua 3 presents another picture. Israel stands before the Jordan at flood stage, and the water does not part while the priests remain safely on the bank. They step forward carrying the ark of the covenant—the sign of God’s presence—and discover that the Lord is already making a way. Their confidence is not in their courage, planning, or ability to control the river. It is in the God who goes before them. Timothy must also be careful not to turn “forward” into a slogan for human momentum. A building will not save the congregation. Growth will not prove God’s favor. Success cannot be guaranteed by enthusiasm. Yet fear, nostalgia, and the demand for perfect certainty can become forms of disobedience. Faith listens to God’s Word, counts the cost wisely, walks together in love, and then takes the next faithful step. Christ is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. He has already passed through death, opened the way to life, and promised to remain with His Church. The series therefore ends not with pressure to manufacture confidence, but with the Gospel promise that the One who transforms lives also leads His people. We move forward because Christ goes before us, Christ walks among us, and Christ will use what He entrusts to Timothy for purposes larger than we can see. The invitation is not merely to support a project. It is to entrust ourselves, our congregation, our school, and the generations ahead to the faithful Lord who is still transforming lives. |

The congregation is invited to join us in celebrating our Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) on LWML Sunday, as we recognize their faithful service to God and others.
What a joy to celebrate these women on Reformation Sunday and give thanks for the many ways they help proclaim the saving message of Jesus Christ through their words and actions.
The mission of LWML is lived out through hands that serve, feet that go where needed, voices that share God’s praises, and hearts willing to follow His will. Through giving, serving, encouraging, and supporting those in need, these faithful women continue to share Christ’s love within our congregation, our community, and beyond.
We give thanks to God for the women of LWML and pray that He will continue to strengthen, guide, and use them as they joyfully serve Him and share the hope we have in Christ.
Join us as we celebrate and thank God for our Lutheran Women in Mission! |

At just 18 years old, Faith found herself on her own. After staying with friends, she made a courageous decision: she wanted to learn the skills needed to become a confident young adult and live independently. Determined to build a stable future, Faith reached out to Hillcrest Transitional Housing and began applying for jobs. Faith soon accepted a position at Boone Preschool. Just days after she started, Julie Storck, a member of our congregation, became the preschool director. When Faith shared that she was living at Hillcrest, Julie realized that Faith was the resident staying in our congregation’s Hillcrest apartment. It was a beautiful God moment—an unexpected connection that gave Faith another source of encouragement. Only two weeks into the Hillcrest program, Faith faced a major setback when her vehicle became not drivable. She refused to let the setback discourage her plan. While working two jobs, she saved enough money to purchase a reliable used vehicle with an extended warranty. She carefully considered the cost of the payments and insurance to make sure the purchase fits within her budget. Even after buying the vehicle, Faith continued to grow her savings and strengthen her financial skills. Each thoughtful decision has helped build her confidence and move her closer to the independent future she envisions. Faith’s story is a powerful example of resilience, responsibility, and the difference that a supportive community can make in the life of a young adult. |

Throughout the month of October, Timothy Lutheran Ministries will be collecting donations to support Hillcrest, a ministry dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome homelessness and build a stronger future through housing, education, and supportive services. To make giving easy, a donation cart will be available in the church lobby. Be sure to check the cart regularly for a list of Hillcrest's most needed items, as those needs may change throughout the month. Every donation, big or small, provides encouragement and practical assistance to those working toward stability and independence. As we remain Rooted in Christ (Colossians 2:6-7), we are blessed to share His love through acts of compassion and service. Thank you for your generosity and for partnering with Hillcrest to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. Together, we can be Christ's hands and feet in our community. |
