Last week, we explored what it means to have a meaningful relationship with Jesus. Like any relationship, it requires time, intentionality, and commitment to grow. Today, we’ll look at how we nurture that connection with Christ—and reflect on the distractions and challenges that often keep us from doing so.
Another New Year is on the horizon, and we have much to be thankful for including Pastor Kendall, Lynn and family joining us here at Timothy. Now we set our eyes on what the Lord is calling us to as Timothy Lutheran Ministries in 2026. As we have prayerfully considered and conversed, the Lord has placed us to center our attention on Revitalizing Relationships by Sharing Sacred Spaces. So, we are going to kick off 2026 inviting you to join us as we work toward deepening our relationships with Jesus, with one another, and with those outsides. We are going to be challenged, exhorted, and encouraged in the year ahead. We are praying for God to do amazing things!

This week, Gary Flandermeyer delivered approximately 300 pounds of food donations from Timothy to the Blue Springs Community Services League. These items, generously provided by our church family throughout December, will help meet urgent needs in our community.
The Community Services League team expressed deep gratitude for these badly needed supplies, which will make a real difference for local families. Thank you, Timothy, for sharing Christ’s love in such a tangible way!
In 2026 GROW Commission will focus on revitalizing small group ministry, with the goal of connecting all of us with God's Word and each other. Several members have already stepped forward to lead new small groups, but several more are still needed. Leaders don't have to be Biblical experts, but will guide or facilitate a group of 10-14 as you study God's Word together. Leaders may host their group, but may also work with another person who's willing to host but doesn't want to facilitate.
Materials will be available and an orientation/training meeting will be held in January. Groups will form in February and begin meeting in March.
Is God tugging at your heart to get involved? If so, don't hesitate to jump in!

As we begin 2026 with our new theme, Revitalizing Relationships by Sharing Sacred Spaces, we’re reminded that being a Christian isn’t about checking boxes, knowing all the books of the Bible, giving generously, singing loudly, or having a devotional on the kitchen table. It’s about cultivating a genuine relationship with Jesus, our Savior. Too often, the church can slip into routines of performance and rule-following. But Jesus invites us into something deeper and more meaningful. This year, we start by asking: What does a relationship with Jesus truly look like?
Another New Year is on the horizon, and we have much to be thankful for including Pastor Kendall, Lynn and family joining us here at Timothy. Now we set our eyes on what the Lord is calling us to as Timothy Lutheran Ministries in 2026. The glory of God has come in Christ Jesus our Lord as we bask in the aftermath of another Christmas celebration. But the Lord doesn’t stop showing His glory to His people. As we enter into this New Testament account, we find Saul stunned by the glory of Christ. But the Lord isn’t there to dismiss Saul but to reveal to him, his calling.
This Advent season, we invite you to behold the radiant glory of God as it breaks into our world and hearts. In this series, The Glory of the Lord, we will explore how God's glory reveals His promises, His power, His plans, His perfection, His uniqueness, His judgment, His identity, and even our calling. Each week, we’ll reflect on how the brilliance of His presence not only illuminates the story of Christ’s coming but also transforms our understanding of who God is and who we are in Him. Come and discover the wonder of Advent through the lens of divine glory—majestic, holy, and full of grace.

Thank you so much for your consistent support of my theological training. I am excited, grateful, and deeply blessed to share that I will be completing my time at my current seminary with a Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and transferring to Metro Atlanta Seminary to pursue my MDiv.
I finished my studies there by completing the foundations of Biblical Greek. Learning a new language was a tremendous amount of work, but I am already seeing the fruit as I begin to study and interpret Scripture in its original language.
I’m also thrilled to hear that your prayers have been answered with the calling of a new lead pastor to Timothy. I continue to pray for your leadership and your community. May God continue to use your church to be a shining light of hope, grounded in the truth of Jesus Christ.

Here’s an encounter with the glorious God we can’t pass by although we might want to. Here in this vision Amos, the prophet experiences the glory of God as judge. It’s a heavy scene of devastation and destruction. Yet even in this truth we find hope.
This Advent season, we invite you to behold the radiant glory of God as it breaks into our world and hearts. In this series, The Glory of the Lord, we will explore how God's glory reveals His promises, His power, His plans, His perfection, His uniqueness, His judgment, His identity, and even our calling. Thank you to the 103 members who signed in for last Sunday’s Voters’ Assembly meeting! Your participation is vital to the life and mission of Timothy Lutheran Church.
During the meeting, the Assembly: ✅ Approved the proposed slate of lay leaders ✅ Confirmed MO District Convention lay delegates ✅ Adopted the 2026 operating budget
(If you are wanting a copy of the approved budget, please email maryt@timothylutheran.com)
Leadership Update: During the election, the office of President remains vacant as no candidate was nominated or elected. In accordance with Article B 4(F) of our Constitution and Bylaws, the Executive Board is authorized to appoint a successor to fill vacancies.
At its January meeting, the Board will appoint Joe Sauter, who has been (or will be) duly reelected as Treasurer, to serve as Interim President for six months. This appointment ensures continuity of leadership while the Nominating Committee continues to seek a permanent candidate.
At the end of the six-month period, the Board will revisit the appointment:
If Joe continues as President, a new Treasurer will be appointed.
If Joe resumes full-time Treasurer duties, a new Interim President will be appointed.
Regular communications will keep the congregation informed of progress.
Thank you for your commitment to supporting God’s work through Timothy Lutheran. Together, we continue to share Christ’s love in our community and beyond!

Kendall and I are so excited to join into ministry with you at Timothy Ministries. We have felt so welcomed and supported by your friendly greetings and gifts of support. Thank you for including us in your prayers; they are powerful. May your family ties be strengthened and your faith flourish during this Advent season.
This Christmas season, our church family came together in an incredible way to share love and hope through the Giving Tree ministry. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to make a meaningful impact in our community:
Over 100 gifts were collected for 8 families served by LUMA, ensuring each family experienced the joy of Christmas.
A barrel full of gifts—and another barrel’s worth surrounding it— provided blessings for Blue Springs residents through CSL’s Christmas Shop.
9 gifts were donated to support a Hillcrest resident and his daughter, bringing comfort and cheer.
Additionally, 14 gift cards were given to Hillcrest to assist individuals and families struggling with homelessness.
Your kindness has touched lives in ways that go beyond the holiday season. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ in our community!
Celebrate the joy of Christ’s birth with us this Christmas season! We invite you and your family to join us for one or more of our four worship services.
Come experience meaningful worship, beautiful music, and the warmth of our church family as we rejoice in the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ.

On Sunday December 14th we will again worship in a single service at 10:00am and experience the Musical Cantata: A Promise Kept: The Blessing of Christmas by Marty Parks. This service will be followed by a cookie reception coordinated by the Gather Commission.
This Christmas musical tells how God's promises are fulfilled through the baby in the manger. Celebrating this promise - beginning with the humblest circumstances and turning all into glory - are selections that range from traditional carols to ballads to festive arrangements. Our Timothy Choir is working hard to bring an enjoyable worship with the message of Christmas through song. I pray you can join us on Sunday December 14th at 10:00 as we worship as one Timothy Family.
On Sunday, December 14th following the one-service Cantata, join us for fellowship and festive treats! The Gather Commission invites all church members to bring a batch of their favorite holiday cookies or candies to share. This is a chance to taste a variety of homemade goodies and to discover new holiday recipes. Please drop these goodies and recipe at the church Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm or drop them by Sunday early before service.
If you’d like to share the recipe for your treat, feel free to bring a copy. We’ll have tables set up to display everyone’s creations after the Cantata. Let’s make this a sweet celebration filled with delicious treats and holiday cheer. Thank you for sharing your family traditions with our church family!
This Sunday, December 14th Immediately following the One Service Cantata (approximately 11:45 AM)
Agenda includes 2025 ministry updates, Next Generation, 2026 goals, proposed slate of lay leaders, and 2026 proposed budget. A quorum of 40 voting members is required to conduct business. Please plan to attend.
Let’s come together to support the mission and ministry of Timothy Lutheran.
Celebrate the season with joyful singing! Pastor Lieb invites you to an afternoon of Christmas caroling this Sunday, December 14th, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM. Isaiah’s ministry starts in quite a startling way as he is given a vision into the throne room of God. Yet Isaiah recognizes just how unworthy and sinful he is. So, what does the Sovereign and Holy God do with people fractured by sin? He doesn’t throw us away! Our perfect God speaks a perfect Word over us!

Sunday, December 14th Immediately following the One Service Cantata (approximately 11:45 AM)
Agenda includes 2025 ministry updates, Next Generation, 2026 goals, proposed slate of lay leaders, and 2026 proposed budget. A quorum of 40 voting members is required to conduct business. Please plan to attend.

Ryan Kuecker was baptized at Timothy Lutheran Church on September 11, 1983, and has been an active member ever since. He currently serves as an elected elder, is a member of the Grow Commission, has volunteered in leading the senior high youth for over 16 years, and coaches the Timothy Lutheran School soccer team.
Outside of his service to Timothy, Ryan has worked in the insurance industry for 17 years and is currently an independent agent with ASI in Grain Valley. He has been married to his wife, Kate Kuecker, for three years and is a proud stepfather to two amazing children, Samantha and Isaac.
Ryan is a fan of Star Wars and all things nerdy. He enjoys playing disc golf as a weekend warrior, takes pride in his lawn care as an amateur specialist, and dreams of the day Jeff Probst calls him to be a contestant on Survivor.
What an incredible evening we shared at this year’s Trivia Night! Laughter filled the room, friendly competition brought out everyone’s best, and the joy of being together reminded us once again how richly God blesses our Timothy Lutheran School community.
Because of the generosity of our families, friends, staff, and sponsors, we are thrilled to announce that Trivia Night raised a total of $3,564.55. Every dollar of this will go directly to our TLS Scholarship Fund, helping ensure that more students can experience a Christ-centered education, an investment that impacts hearts, minds, and futures.
Events like this aren’t just about funds; they are about fellowship. Scripture reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 to “encourage one another and build each other up,” and that’s exactly what this night represented. From those who planned and decorated, to those who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, or simply prayed over the event, thank you. Your time and support reflect the hands and feet of Christ in action.
We are deeply grateful for this community and for the way God continues to work through each of you. Thank you for making Trivia Night a success, for supporting our students, and for helping us strengthen the mission of Timothy Lutheran School.
A heartfelt thank you to our Timothy congregation for making the LWML Nuts and Candy Drive a wonderful success! Your generosity and support truly make a difference, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Because of your participation, proceeds from this drive will go toward LWML Mites and Timothy’s Emergency Assistance Fund, helping us continue to serve others and share Christ’s love in meaningful ways.Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus in action. Your kindness and commitment strengthen our mission and bless our community!

Tary, along with his wife Mickey, joined Timothy in 1994. They have both been blessed with 4 wonderful children. Natalie and her husband Alec, Michelle, Chad and his wife Catie, and Jacob. They are both having the time of their life spoiling their most adorable granddaughter, Aurora, (Natalie & Alec; parents) who will be turning 2 in a couple weeks. Tary & Mickey just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Tary just recently retired after a 45-year career with Austin Hardware & Supply. Traveling the world and USA supplying and manufacturing products for the industrial vehicle industry was an incredible experience. The relationships that were made and life lessons learned along the way paved the road for an amazing and memorable career.
Tary’s journey with Timothy Church started with the Promise Keeper movement, along with the men of Timothy who were part of that experience. Tary is currently serving Timothy as the Director of Elders. Tary has been working with the Board of Elders since 1996. Tary served as the Call Committee Chairman starting in 2024, and with God’s help and direction the Call Committee found Pastor Kendall Meyer to lead Timothy as our new Senior Pastor. Tary is co-chairman of the Timmy Burger Festival Committee. Tary is also the Chartered Organization Representative for Troop 175 and Pack 175 scout units, who are sponsored by Timothy Church.
When not working on church activities, Tary loves playing golf, hunting is a passion, boating anywhere, watching sports—especially the Chiefs, and spending time with his family doing all of the above. He also enjoys working in the yard and watching movies. Tary & Mickey are looking forward to spending time together traveling to new places and celebrating retired life.

The GROW Commission is hard at work to revive small group Bible Studies at Timothy. Small groups will provide a way for each one of us to connect with others in our congregation to read and study God’s Word and GROW in our faith. To do that we begin the process of forming small groups of 8-10 to meet weekly in someone’s home or at church. Groups will begin meeting early next year.
During late October and early November, Commission members will be available at a table in the lobby to share more information, answer questions, and gather names of people willing to host, lead, or join a small group. Each of these roles looks a little different. Don’t worry or feel uncertain if you’ve never been part of a small group. It’s fun, easy, and uplifting. As members of God’s family, we’re all on this faith journey together! We can encourage and support each other along the way. Wherever you are in your walk or whatever your skills may be, everyone has something to contribute, and each part is important.
Stop by the GROW table after services on Sunday morning or contact Mary Reed for more information.
