Last week, we explored what it means to have a meaningful relationship with Jesus. Like any relationship, it requires time, intentionality, and commitment to grow. Today, we’ll look at how we nurture that connection with Christ—and reflect on the distractions and challenges that often keep us from doing so.

Another New Year is on the horizon, and we have much to be thankful for including Pastor Kendall, Lynn and family joining us here at Timothy. Now we set our eyes on what the Lord is calling us to as Timothy Lutheran Ministries in 2026. As we have prayerfully considered and conversed, the Lord has placed us to center our attention on Revitalizing Relationships by Sharing Sacred Spaces. So, we are going to kick off 2026 inviting you to join us as we work toward deepening our relationships with Jesus, with one another, and with those outsides. We are going to be challenged, exhorted, and encouraged in the year ahead. We are praying for God to do amazing things!

Didn’t the Christmas Season make you want to join us? Come, join the choir, we need some new voices to join our choir family! It’s an hour of fellowship, laughter, prayer and SINGING! We have a great time working toward a common goal to enhance worship for everyone.

You are invited to join the Timothy Choir; we practice every Tuesday from 6:30 -7:30 in the music room. Hope you can be a part of this exciting ministry.

This week, Gary Flandermeyer delivered approximately 300 pounds of food donations from Timothy to the Blue Springs Community Services League. These items, generously provided by our church family throughout December, will help meet urgent needs in our community.

The Community Services League team expressed deep gratitude for these badly needed supplies, which will make a real difference for local families. Thank you, Timothy, for sharing Christ’s love in such a tangible way!

We are grateful for all who serve in elected lay leader positions—your dedication is vital to God’s ministries among us and beyond.

This year’s 2026 Lay Leader Installation will take place during both worship services this Sunday, January 11:

• End of the 9:00 AM service

• Beginning of the 10:30 AM service

This schedule allows worshipers in both services to witness and celebrate this important moment.

Important Notes:

• Installation is for elected leaders only (those approved on the slate at the Voters’ Meeting).

• The School Board was installed in September and will not be included in this installation.

In 2026 GROW Commission will focus on revitalizing small group ministry, with the goal of connecting all of us with God's Word and each other. Several members have already stepped forward to lead new small groups, but several more are still needed. Leaders don't have to be Biblical experts, but will guide or facilitate a group of 10-14 as you study God's Word together. Leaders may host their group, but may also work with another person who's willing to host but doesn't want to facilitate. 

Materials will be available and an orientation/training meeting will be held in January. Groups will form in February and begin meeting in March.

New Women’s Bible Study in the New Year

Ladies of Timothy,

We will begin a short study on the blessings of womanhood. Who does our Heavenly Father say we are?  What are we called to do as women, wives’, mothers and grandmothers?

We will meet January 8, 22nd, February 5 and 19th at 7 PM in the library. 

Women of all ages let’s come together to support each other, encourage one another and grow in faith together.

In addition to our usual devotion/snack/hangout time, we will be making no-sew fleece hats and Valentine cards to send to our home-bound congregants. Oasis Family Night – January 14

Lesson: Jairus’ Daughter (Matthew 9:18–26)

Life can get hectic, and we all need moments to pause, reconnect, and recharge. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to the next Oasis Family Night on Wednesday, January 14, from 6:00–7:30 PM!

This month, our Bible focus will be the powerful story of Jairus’ daughter (Matthew 9:18–26)—a beautiful reminder of Jesus’ compassion, His authority over every challenge, and the hope He brings even in moments that feel impossible. Families will explore this story together as we learn what it means to trust God amid life’s interruptions and uncertainties.

Oasis Family Night offers something meaningful for everyone:

• A free meal and time to enjoy warm, relaxed fellowship

• Faithbuilding activities for kids to grow, learn, and build friendships

• An engaging night for confirmands as they continue their journey

• A welcoming space for adults to dive into God’s Word and find encouragement

The Lutheran Urban Mission Agency Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1701 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with the opening service at 9:30 a.m. The speakers will be Nancy Neill and Carolyn Falls from Swaddling Clothes, a mission of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The Mission of the Month collection is monetary gifts for VBS and youth activities. BYO sack lunch. Breakfast nibbles, drinks, and dessert will be provided. The glory of God has come in Christ Jesus our Lord as we bask in the aftermath of another Christmas celebration. But the Lord doesn’t stop showing His glory to His people. As we enter into this New Testament account, we find Saul stunned by the glory of Christ. But the Lord isn’t there to dismiss Saul but to reveal to him, his calling.

This Advent season, we invite you to behold the radiant glory of God as it breaks into our world and hearts. In this series, The Glory of the Lord, we will explore how God's glory reveals His promises, His power, His plans, His perfection, His uniqueness, His judgment, His identity, and even our calling. Each week, we’ll reflect on how the brilliance of His presence not only illuminates the story of Christ’s coming but also transforms our understanding of who God is and who we are in Him. Come and discover the wonder of Advent through the lens of divine glory—majestic, holy, and full of grace.

Timothy Connects invites fathers to join us on January 9th from 7–9 PM for Faith, Family, and Fatherhood—a meaningful evening rooted in Scripture, brotherhood, and encouragement.

This Bible study is designed to bring fathers together in a supportive community, helping each other grow in their walk with God while strengthening the foundations of family life.

Dear Timothy Lutheran Church,

Thank you so much for your consistent support of my theological training. I am excited, grateful, and deeply blessed to share that I will be completing my time at my current seminary with a Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and transferring to Metro Atlanta Seminary to pursue my MDiv.

I finished my studies there by completing the foundations of Biblical Greek. Learning a new language was a tremendous amount of work, but I am already seeing the fruit as I begin to study and interpret Scripture in its original language.

I’m also thrilled to hear that your prayers have been answered with the calling of a new lead pastor to Timothy. I continue to pray for your leadership and your community. May God continue to use your church to be a shining light of hope, grounded in the truth of Jesus Christ.

St. Matthew Preschool is seeking a Substitute Assistant Teacher to support our Christ-centered early childhood program.

The Substitute Assistant Teacher assists the Lead Teacher with daily activities, classroom routines, student engagement, and the maintenance of a safe, nurturing Christian environment.  Responsibilities include helping with circle time, learning activities, transitions, classroom cleanup, and supporting curriculum plans.  Candidates should enjoy working with young children, be flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable sharing their faith through words and actions.  Hours and days will vary.

Qualifications:

• Christian by affirmation and example

• High school diploma or GED (early childhood training a plus)

• Ability to relate well to children and families

• Willingness to learn, grow, and work as part of a team

• Background check and I-9 required

Starting Wage: $13.00/hour

As the Christmas season approaches, Timothy Lutheran Ministries focuses on supporting the Community Services League (CSL) through our December donation drive. All month long, we invite you to join us in giving back to those in need.

Donations can be placed in the grocery cart located in the church lobby, just to the right (east) of the south entry doors. Suggested donation lists are available in the cart to guide your contributions. Simply take a list, fill a grocery bag with items, and return it to the same location at your convenience throughout December.

Your generosity helps provide essential support to the Community Services League as they assist individuals and families in need during the holiday season.
