In the midst of disaster how can we really say, “Jesus is Lord of creation.” After all, everything around us seems out of control. The world even looks like it’s falling apart sometimes. Yet the Scriptures keep declaring that God has it all under control. Join us as we catch glimpses of God’s Lordship over all creation.

Tary, along with his wife Mickey, joined Timothy in 1994. They have both been blessed with 4 wonderful children. Natalie and her husband Alec, Michelle, Chad and his wife Catie, and Jacob. They are both having the time of their life spoiling their most adorable granddaughter, Aurora, (Natalie & Alec; parents) who will be turning 2 in a couple weeks. Tary & Mickey just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Tary just recently retired after a 45-year career with Austin Hardware & Supply. Traveling the world and USA supplying and manufacturing products for the industrial vehicle industry was an incredible experience. The relationships that were made and life lessons learned along the way paved the road for an amazing and memorable career.
Tary’s journey with Timothy Church started with the Promise Keeper movement, along with the men of Timothy who were part of that experience. Tary is currently serving Timothy as the Director of Elders. Tary has been working with the Board of Elders since 1996. Tary served as the Call Committee Chairman starting in 2024, and with God’s help and direction the Call Committee found Pastor Kendall Meyer to lead Timothy as our new Senior Pastor. Tary is co-chairman of the Timmy Burger Festival Committee. Tary is also the Chartered Organization Representative for Troop 175 and Pack 175 scout units, who are sponsored by Timothy Church.
When not working on church activities, Tary loves playing golf, hunting is a passion, boating anywhere, watching sports—especially the Chiefs, and spending time with his family doing all of the above. He also enjoys working in the yard and watching movies. Tary & Mickey are looking forward to spending time together traveling to new places and celebrating retired life.

The GROW Commission is hard at work to revive small group Bible Studies at Timothy. Small groups will provide a way for each one of us to connect with others in our congregation to read and study God’s Word and GROW in our faith. To do that we begin the process of forming small groups of 8-10 to meet weekly in someone’s home or at church. Groups will begin meeting early next year.
During late October and early November, Commission members will be available at a table in the lobby to share more information, answer questions, and gather names of people willing to host, lead, or join a small group. Each of these roles looks a little different. Don’t worry or feel uncertain if you’ve never been part of a small group. It’s fun, easy, and uplifting. As members of God’s family, we’re all on this faith journey together! We can encourage and support each other along the way. Wherever you are in your walk or whatever your skills may be, everyone has something to contribute, and each part is important.
Stop by the GROW table after services on Sunday morning or contact Mary Reed for more information.

This Bible study is a space for dads to grow in faith, connect in brotherhood, and support one another through shared experiences. Whether it's the daily grind or the sacred moments of fatherhood, we're here to walk it together.
Guided by Proverbs 22:6 — "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it" — our mission is clear: to raise up the next generation with intentional, integrity, and a foundation in Christ.
If you're a dad looking for real connection, biblical encouragement, and a community that gets it-this is for you.
Welcome to Faith, Family & Fatherhood Bible Study!

Have you ever wondered what drives the LWML mission? What is the fuel behind every quilt tied, every missionary supported, and every act of compassion shown? It all goes back to a final, powerful command from our risen Lord. On the day of His Ascension, Jesus gave His followers their assignment. We read it in Luke, chapter 24: "Go... proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins in His name to all nations." This command is the very heartbeat of the church, and it is the central theme for this Lutheran Women in Mission Sunday. The work they celebrate isn't just about charity; it's about proclamation. It is the life-changing message of forgiveness in Jesus' name that motivates us to serve and to GO. All glory be to Jesus!

This October, we have the special opportunity to celebrate and give thanks to the Called Staff who faithfully serve Timothy. Their commitment to ministry, teaching, and leadership blesses our congregation in countless ways.
We encourage everyone to keep our Called Staff in your prayers throughout the month and to share words of encouragement and gratitude.A heartfelt note, kind message, or simple “thank you” can make a meaningful impact.
Let’s come together as a church family to honor their service and dedication. May our appreciation reflect the love of Christ and remind them how deeply valued they are.
Timothy's leadership is anxious to welcome Pastor Kendall very soon! It's time to firm up elected leadership roles for 2026, and your participation is needed as we all move forward in expanded ways to transform more lives through Christ! If you have questions about serving as an elder, contact Tary Krahenbuhl (tkrahenbuhl@gmail.com). School Board members serve from June 1 - May 31 rather than the Jan. - Dec. calendar year. If interested in serving on the School Board in the future, contact Kate Kuecker (kate@twitchetts.com).
Jeremy joined Timothy in 2011 after marrying long-time member, Guin Merrell. Together, they raised 3 adopted special needs boys, and now have 3 biological children, ages 11, 7 and 1. Two children (Zeb and Effy) currently attend Timothy Lutheran School.
After high school, Jeremy joined the Marine Corps as a reservist. In 1997, he joined DST Systems (now owned by SS&C Technologies), where he works on large IT systems. After 28 years, he now serves as a Lead Data Engineer building the company’s centralized data platform. God and shareholders willing, he’d like to retire with the company in another 15 years.
Jeremy is a devout DIY enthusiast and is passionate about understanding how things work. He enjoys doing his own home repairs, auto maintenance and tech upgrades. He feels empowered by Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. He recently put that verse into action, completing his bachelor's degree in business administration.
He enjoys vacationing on cruise ships, building tabletop miniatures, and listening to audio-books. He’s into whatever cartoons, shows, movies and video games that his kids are. He collects all manner of jokes, especially “Dad Jokes”. He likes to organize them in his Dadabase.

Home is the most incredible place to be. And I’m talking about the place of comfort, not necessarily the location. Today as we wrap up this Psalm, we hear David proclaim his desire is to be home with the Lord and nothing could beat that. Yet we also recognize, as sheep, we aren’t super skilled at navigating how to get home. And to be honest sometimes we can be found declaring “I never want to go home!” No matter the situation, the Shepherd acts just as we have seen over the past few weeks. So how will the Shepherd bring home sheep? Come gather with the flock and find out.
We all know Psalm 23. It’s a passage that’s been committed to memory by countless people, a passage that brings comfort in times of sorrow, and a refrain often heard at funerals. But is this beloved Psalm just for the dying or those in grief? Or is it for us today, in every circumstance of our lives?
September 7th - October 12th, we will explore Psalm 23 and discover how it speaks to us and our lives with Christ. This Psalm isn't just about comfort in our final moments; it’s about finding comfort and guidance in our daily lives. Join us as we take a deep dive into this beloved Psalm and develop a greater understanding of what it truly means to walk with Jesus, our Good Shepherd.

Are you ready to start your day with purpose? This study is open to all men who desire to grow stronger in their faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus. James challenges us to live out our faith with wisdom, perseverance, and integrity—truths every man need for daily life.
Whether you’re a regular in Bible study or just getting started, this is an opportunity to build meaningful connections and start your mornings with encouragement. Bring a friend, come hungry for the Word (and maybe for biscuits and gravy), and discover how God’s Word can reshape your walk.

Doug Hick has been a member of the Executive Board for 4 years. He and his wife Margaret, who will be married 38 years this December, came back to Timothy after being at Messiah while their three kids attended the grade school. They had previously been members of Timothy for about 10 years beginning in 1995. Doug and Margaret live in Lee’s Summit and their 3 children are all grown, all living in the KC area. They have two grandsons - a one year old and a one month old. Doug is an attorney and Margaret works part-time at St. Luke’s East as a newborn hearing screener. Doug grew up in St. Louis and ironically, went to the same grade school and high school as Pastor Ryan and Pastor Kendall. Margaret grew up in Independence. He and Margaret met at Mizzou and started their life after college in Raytown. They enjoy spending time with their kids and grand-kids, two dogs, boating and enjoying their season tickets to Mizzou football. Doug and Margaret have both been very active in the churches they have been at as well as at Messiah Lutheran School. Margaret currently serves on the Grow Commission and she and Doug have been Prayer Pals for several years.
Doug and Margaret are very excited about what is happening at Timothy. They attend the 9:00 service and believe Timothy is on a path of growing all ministries so that all can
experience the joy and peace that come with walking with Christ on a daily basis.

Prayer Pal Meet & Munch Success
On Wednesday, October 1st, Prayer Pals gathered with their Confirmation Students for a “Meet & Munch” event. The Prayer Pal program matches an adult member of the congregation with a 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grader. The hope is to help the middle school youth to develop friendships with adult mentors in the congregation. This was the first meeting for some of the pairings and for others it was simply a time to catch up on what new is happening in each other’s lives. 70 in attendance enjoyed good conversation and yummy snacks.
Throughout the month of October, Timothy Lutheran Ministries will be collecting donations in support of Hillcrest. This ministry provides essential resources and care for individuals and families in need, and your contributions help make their work possible.

The time with the Shepherd has been good so far. By grace He has drawn, provided, protected, and guided. Not surprising, that’s what a Good Shepherd does but today things have changed. Circumstances change, identities change, locations change, and we find ourselves coming to a table. A table filled with an overwhelming abundance of food and drink. But who is this table for, and what is it for? Come gather with the flock and find out.

Are you ready to start your day with purpose? JourneyMen invites you to join a new Bible study through the Book of James beginning Tuesday, October 21, from 6:30–7:30 a.m. We’ll gather at Royal Biscuit in Blue Springs at 15th and 40 Highway, where you can enjoy breakfast and coffee while diving into Scripture.
Do you know someone who should be using his/her gifts and skills in lay leadership positions at Timothy? Is God nudging you to join Timothy's leadership team? Is 2026 the year for you to offer your leadership talents? Open positions on the Executive Board, Board of Elected Elders, and Commission Leaders will be publicized mid-late October. Please pray about how you can get involved and contact Diane Mayfield (dianem@timothylutheran.com or 816.898.8772) with questions of how you can pursue this opportunity to serve in a ministry to transform lives through Christ.
Doug and his wife, Cathy, have been members of Timothy for over 40 years, and during that time Doug has had various volunteer opportunities at Timothy – usher, appointed elder, reader, choir member, Property Board and is currently a member of the Executive Board, and designee to the GIVE Commission. Doug grew up in central Ohio, but he and his family relocated to the Kansas City area with his career as Research Product Manager for the Home Garden Products of the Bayer Agricultural Division. He and Cathy have two children, and two grandchildren. He is a proud third generation graduate of The Ohio State University! His passions, before and after retirement, have always been nature photography and gardening, and he especially enjoys their 10 -acre wooded property on the northern edge of Blue Springs.
Timothy's Women of Hope leadership team invites Timothy Church (men & women) to a new opportunity to experience and appreciate God's natural world! We will gather at Burr Oaks Conservation Area in north Blue Springs off Highway 7, one mile west on Park Road, from 4-6:30pm on Thursday, Oct 9, for devotion, fellowship, walking the trail (if desired--wear your walking shoes!), bringing a sack lunch (if desired) to eat at the picnic tables, as well as a special opportunity from 5:30ish-6:30 to learn from Timothy's own Scott Ready, who is an Extension Master Gardener and a volunteer co-coordinator at Burr Oaks. He plans to talk about the native garden in front of the center and discovering the benefits of native plants. It will be a special opportunity to "grow" our friendships, knowledge of native plants & horticulture in general, and humble adoration for God's natural world in our midst.
A spirit of fellowship and service was on full display this past Sunday as a group of our members visited Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City to share a meal and God’s Word.
It was a blessing to serve about 30 people a comforting meal of chili, hotdogs, and chili dogs, complete with chips and delicious apple or cherry cobbler. The spirit of giving continued as the team assembled take-home lunches, extending the gesture of care beyond the shared meal.
The spiritual focus of the gathering was Jesus' powerful parable of the Lost Sheep. The story served as a poignant reminder that, just like the shepherd who sought the one lost sheep, Jesus tirelessly seeks each of us out, offering comfort and reunion when we feel lost and alone.
The outreach was so well-received that Timothy has been asked to return in November to serve a full Thanksgiving meal. If you feel called to participate in this rewarding ministry, please watch for an invitation to join!
Following the event, Pat Enomoto shared a touching message of gratitude:
“You showed up with heart, enthusiasm, and a deep love for Jesus and your fellow man—regardless of their circumstances. What an incredible, high-energy day! Your presence not only served our friends in the Northeast area, but also uplifted your friends here at Our Redeemer. Sometimes we feel like the little lost sheep, and it’s comforting to be reminded that Jesus knows exactly where we are and what we’re doing.”
“Thank you—and your wonderful ‘gang’—from the bottom of our hearts.”

Middle School students at Timothy Lutheran School recently enjoyed a lively and engaging Big Game Day filled with fun, fellowship, and faith-building moments.
The afternoon kicked off with a variety of games, including Chutes and Ladders, a group round of HHH (Heads, Hands, and Heart), and several activity stations where students could explore and play freely. Laughter and energy filled the space as students connected with one another in a relaxed and joyful environment.
After the games, everyone gathered for snack time during a meaningful devotion centered on the story of Samuel, encouraging students to reflect on listening to God's voice and being open to His calling.
The day wrapped up with a spirited everyone-round of volleyball, bringing the group together one last time for teamwork and fun.
Big Game Day was a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from community, play, and growing in faith together.

I’d love to live in a world where the phrase “no worries” is a reality. And maybe I wish that too much as I say the phrase often. But in this messed up world it is not even close to a reality. Today we are reminded of that as the sheep find themselves in the valley of darkness and death and here’s the thing, there’s no alternate route. How’s the Shepherd going to tend to us sheep in this inevitable situation?

Have you ever followed some advice from a well-meaning person that led you astray? Or maybe you've simply made a bad decision on your own. It's a humble part of life—we all make mistakes. The Bible often compares us to sheep, and let's be honest, sheep aren't exactly known for their great decision-making skills. But even when we wander down the wrong path, the Shepherd is still at work. How will he treat the sheep—like you and me—who get lost?

Charlie Johnson's meeting minutes ministry began long before transferring from Messiah to Timothy. He once served as congregation and board secretary for Peace Lutheran Church during the typewriter era (erasers/white correction fluid). After 23 years in banking, plus two IT careers designing and coding insurance and civil/criminal documents, Charlie retired in 2018—but not from serving. Since 1998, he has been typing away behind the scenes at Timothy, turning spoken words into meeting minutes—piecing together fragmented thoughts like a jigsaw puzzle missing half the edge pieces. His punctuation credo, “He never met an Oxford comma he didn’t like.”
He started on Timothy’s Parish Planning Council in May 1998 and co-designed a Timothy newsletter with Kathy Parish. Since then, it has grown into a steady meeting minutes ministry: Executive Board, Voters’ Assembly, Gather Commission, Next Generation Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Senior Pastor Call Committee, Ministry Planning Council, and Timothy's Constitution and bylaws—you name it, Charlie has probably documented it. He is also one of the leaders of the Tuesday Morning Men’s Bible Study, a weekly fellowship of Scripture and strong coffee.
Charlie is married to Lucy Johnson, the love of his life. They have two daughters, Emily and Sarah, and a long-haired dachshund named Rocky, who believes every meeting should include snacks, belly rubs, tail wags, and zero budget talks.
A huge thank-you goes out to all the incredible volunteers who signed up to serve at Fall Fun Fest this weekend! Your willingness to share your time and energy makes events like this possible, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you. From setting up and grilling to greeting guests and helping behind the scenes, your dedication helps us create a warm, welcoming space for our community.
If you weren’t able to volunteer this year, we’d still love for you to be part of the fun! Stop by, say hello, grab a delicious burger, and enjoy the festivities with us. Fall Fun Fest is all about celebrating togetherness, so the more familiar faces we see, the better the day becomes.
We can’t wait to see you this weekend—whether you’re serving, visiting, or just passing through, you’re an important part of what makes this community special!

Special thanks to Louie Wilbers for picking up the ice machine and to Gary Williams for his dedicated effort in installing it.

While we often see sheep gathered in flocks, making no mistake about it, sheep want to be independent. At least the sheep who we see in the mirror each day. That independence comes from a desire for greener pastures and meaningful refreshments. The struggle is in the pursuit, sometimes we need some dangerous advice. Yet the Lord sees the wandering sheep and yes has compassion for them. But what will He do? Come gather with the flock and find out.

Diane Mayfield has called Blue Springs and Timothy home practically her entire life. It has been amazing to watch both grow from small to large over the years. Education has been "the family business" for the Mayfields, as both Brad and Diane are retired teachers from BSSD and their children (Allison Spencer and Andy Mayfield) and their spouses are employed in the district. What a blessing it is to have the entire family close to be a part of their families, especially watching their five grandkids grow and thrive. Diane has been highly involved in many Timothy ministries over the years and encourages everyone to find a ministry (maybe more than one!) to support as a volunteer. The relationships you foster with your Lord and others are definitely worth it!
Janet Masters extends heartfelt thanks for your prayers, cards, and kind thoughts following the passing of her sister, Leone. Your support is deeply appreciated.
Each year, Fall Fun Fest is a wonderful opportunity to share Christ’s love through joyful service — and it takes many hands to make it happen! We’re calling on all Timothy families to be part of the team. Whether you're:
Flipping those famous Timmy Burgers
Taking orders with a smile
Prepping onions in the kitchen
...there’s a spot just for you. Every role makes a difference!
👉 We are still needing volunteers for the following shifts:
Friday: 4:00–7:00 pm
Saturday: 7:30–10:30 pm

There are those who are sheep, and there are those who are shepherds. Which one are you? Today we begin this deep dive into Psalm 23 by looking at verse one. These words draw us into imagery we know so well, but do we understand what it means for us. Why does the Psalmist paint the Lord as a shepherd, and how come we are referred to as sheep?

Mr. Simon Murray is a native of Lee's Summit, Missouri and moved out to Grain Valley, Missouri last year. As a student, he attended Truman State University for his first two years and then graduated from Arkansas Tech University while studying Music and Spanish. The oboe is his instrument of choice and has performed with several orchestras, ensembles, and even performed with an American ensemble in Vienna, Austria. As for Spanish, although he has not been to a Spanish speaking country yet, and that is a major to-do on his bucket list, Mr. Murray has created friendships with many native and heritage speakers to further his love for the language. During his four years in college, Mr. Murray was a part of several college baseball teams.
Now in his spare time Mr. Murray is an aspiring professional baseball player and trains with some of the best players in the country. Mr. Murray is very excited to be here at Timothy Lutheran Ministries as he believes teaching the Spanish language is an important step to helping destroy cultural boundaries and creating unity between Spanish and non-Spanish speaking people.

The Hillcrest Gala proved to be another unforgettable evening, filled with entertainment, excitement, and community spirit. Guests enjoyed an outstanding menu featuring Mediterranean chicken roulade, wine-poached shrimp, and a selection of unique desserts. As guests viewed the auction and raffle items, Daysia Reneau - former The Voice contestant and member of Team Gwen - added a star-power performance that elevated the energy in the room.
Guests participated in a lively auction featuring a wide range of high-value items, including luxury vacations to Hawaii, exquisite diamond jewelry, and memorabilia signed by basketball sensation Caitlin Clark.
In addition to the auction, attendees had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for seven exciting prize drawings. Prizes included a mix of gift cards, fun local activities, and even a backyard grilling experience.
The evening concluded with an energetic and crowd-pleasing fashion show, featuring KCT5 celebrities modeling outfits sourced entirely from Hillcrest Thrift Stores. It was a fitting finale that showcased both style and the spirit of giving.
Next year promises to be even more exciting, as it will mark the 50th anniversary of Hillcrest’s founding - a golden celebration you won’t want to miss.
Confirmation is underway, and we still need 8 caring people to serve as Prayer Pals for this year’s students! This simple but powerful ministry pairs a confirmed adult (confirmation age and up!) with a Confirmation student for the year.
What does a Prayer Pal do?
It’s easy — but incredibly meaningful. Just commit to:
Pray regularly for your Confirmation student
Reach out once a month with a quick text, card, or encouraging message
That’s it! A small-time investment that creates lasting connections and encourages our youth as they grow in faith.
Can you pray? Can you send a message?
Then you can be a Prayer Pal!
Help us ensure that every student has a Prayer Pal walking alongside them this year.
