Join us tonight for Good Friday service, where we remember a Savior who knows suffering firsthand.
Revelation 2:8–11 reminds us that even in the face of trials, persecution, and death, Christ promises faithfulness, courage, and eternal life. Join us as we reflect on the hope that shines through suffering and the victory won on the cross.
This Easter, we will wrap up our series on the 7 churches in Revelation by looking at Revelation 1:4–8 and hear the risen Christ proclaim, “I am the Living One.” Discover how His victory brings grace, peace, and unshakeable hope in a world hungry for good news. This spring, Alec and Natalie Bray are opening their home and hearts to lead a new small group designed to help people grow in faith and build meaningful community. Meeting weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM, this group will officially begin April 15th, and children are welcome.
Alec and Natalie share a passion for creating Christ-centered spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged. As parents to their daughter, Aurora, they value cultivating a home centered on faith—but their vision for this group reaches far beyond families with young children. Their desire is to bring together individuals from all walks of life who are seeking connection and spiritual growth.
They believe that faith grows best within authentic community—where people can ask honest questions, share real-life struggles, celebrate victories, and pray for one another. Whether you are single, married, raising children, or navigating a new season of life, this group is designed to be a place where you belong.
Alec brings steady leadership and a heart for helping others live with purpose, while Natalie’s natural gift for hospitality and building relationships helps people feel comfortable and truly seen. Together, they hope to cultivate a group atmosphere marked by grace, encouragement, and spiritual growth for both adults and children.
If you’re looking for connection, community, and a place to grow in your faith, consider joining Alec and Natalie’s small group this season.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of representing Timothy at a workday with Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity. Our team gathered at the future home located at 1523 Appleton Avenue in the Englewood area of Independence, where we completed the important first step of installing the floor joists—the very first pieces of lumber placed on this new house.
The attached photo captures the seven volunteers who served together that day. It was truly a blessing to work alongside such a capable and dedicated group. Most were experienced carpenters, joined by two staff members from Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity who organized and guided the building day with skill and encouragement.
I am grateful for each volunteer who offered not only their labor, but their spirit of generosity and teamwork. Praise God for these willing and gracious servants, whose efforts will help create a safe and stable home for a family in need.

On March 29, members of the Faith, Family, and Fatherhood Bible Study Group (Young Fathers) had the opportunity to put their faith into action by serving at Our Redeemer in Kansas City. Through their time and efforts, these young fathers shared Christ’s love in practical ways while strengthening their bonds with one another.
This act of service reflects the heart of the group’s mission—to grow as Christ‑centered leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. It was a meaningful day of fellowship, service, and living out faith together, and we give thanks for their willingness to serve and represent Timothy Lutheran so well.
Timothy Lutheran Church and School are planning a Parking Lot Crack‑Filling Workday on Saturday, April 25, and we’re looking for volunteers to help keep our campus safe and welcoming.
Over time, weather and regular traffic create cracks in the parking lot. This work day will prep for the resurfacing and striping of the parking lot in May.
Event Details 📅 Saturday, April 25 🕘 8:00 AM – Noon 📍 Timothy Parking Lot
No experience is needed, just bring work gloves, close-toe shoes, and, if you have one, a broom or leaf blower. Adults, teens, families, and service groups are all welcome. Whether you can help for an hour or the whole morning, your time makes a meaningful difference.
Please sign up through the app or click the link to sign up. If you have any questions, please reach out to Louie Wilbers, 816-988-6059.

This spring, mothers are invited to join a new small group led by Courtney Schmidt, offering a supportive space to explore the real and sometimes difficult topics of motherhood through a biblical lens. The Mom’s Small Group will begin on April 9th at 6:00 PM and meet biweekly on Thursdays in the Timothy Library.
This group is designed to walk alongside moms as they navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood. Together, participants will study Grace in Chaos: Biblical Hope for Hard Days of Motherhood by The Daily Grace Co., a resource that speaks honestly to the demanding seasons many moms face.
Throughout the study, Courtney will lead discussions on topics such as:
The Identity Shift — discovering who you are in Christ beyond being “just” a mom
Mom Guilt & Comparison — navigating the pressure to be perfect in a social‑media‑driven world
Biblical Self‑Care — understanding rest and care as faithful stewardship, not selfishness
Finding Peace in the Chaos — leaning on Scripture when life feels loud and overwhelming
The Loneliness of Motherhood — building authentic community during isolating seasons
If you’re a mom longing for biblical truth, meaningful conversation, and supportive community, this group is for you. Join us this spring and connect with other moms navigating similar seasons of life.
Last Friday evening, Timothy ladies and friends enjoyed a rousing rendition of Crazy Bridge and the opportunity to become better acquainted with other Sisters in Christ. The Women of Hope leadership team now gives you a heads up to mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 17, 6-8pm, to enjoy fellowship and a live, free concert in the outdoor courtyard area at Powell Gardens Colonial Farms. More details coming soon.
The Lutheran Urban Mission Association Auxiliary met on March 18 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence. The featured speaker for the meeting was Shelby Carpenter from Mothers Refuge, who shared updates on their ministry and mission.
The ingathering for the day focused on non‑perishable food items. In addition, Timothy contributed 100 tuna pouches for sack lunches—generously donated by Blue Springs Price Chopper South. Adding a special touch, the preschool children of King of Kings decorated the luncheon bags with cheerful artwork.
Join us the week of April 10–19 as we come together to serve our community in meaningful ways! From hands‑on projects to donation opportunities, there’s a place for everyone to make a difference.
Can’t participate during those dates? You can still help—check the sign‑ups for donation and support options.

Philadelphia was small yet faithful. But the warning is made known- to ignore Christ’s open door is to risk being locked out forever. We are encouraged to hold on to our faith though weak, and cling to His word and trust His promised security.

Worship service theme: What’s it Going to Be?
If you’ve ever seen Sunday School lessons about Jonah usually Jonah walks away with a happily ever after story. But the real Jonah isn’t so stoked. Instead, he takes issue with the kind of God that would be merciful to such awful sinners. And this requires him and us to do some real soul searching. Do we really desire God to be merciful to all?
There are seasons when settling feels safe—even necessary. But Lent invites us to ask deeper questions: Have we settled for “good enough” in our walk with Christ and in the life of the church? Have we grown comfortable with our strengths while ignoring the areas where we struggle or cling to sin?
This Lenten series challenges us to move beyond complacency. Through the lens of Jesus’ messages to the seven churches in Revelation, we’ll hear His words of affirmation, correction, and encouragement. Each week, we’ll examine what it means to pursue Jesus wholeheartedly—not just in the areas we excel, but especially in the places we’ve settled.
Let’s allow this season to stir us, refine us, and call us to a deeper, more faithful pursuit of Christ—one that refuses to settle for “good enough.”
Laodicea was comfortable but spiritually lukewarm. Jesus calls us to wholehearted devotion, accepting His gentle correction and walking with zeal as His followers.

The people of Nineveh don’t simply carry on with their sin. They fear God and they pursue repentance and even make their animals participate. But they are left with a huge uncertainty...Does God care enough to relent? Who knows? Tonight, we find out what kind of God this is.

This February, our homebound members were reminded once again just how deeply they are loved by their church family.
This Valentine’s season brought an outpouring of love, creativity, and connection to our homebound members—all thanks to the beautiful partnership between our Care Ministry, our amazing youth, and the elders.
The Care Ministry prepared the Valentine goodie bags, each one filled with treats that brightened the day of every recipient. Many of our homebound members shared how deeply touched they were by the surprise and how meaningful it felt to be remembered in such a special way.
One of the biggest hits of the delivery? The cozy tied fleece hats lovingly crafted by our youth. Each hat, tied by hand, was unique—colorful, soft, and made with care. Our homebound members didn’t just appreciate them… they had fun with them! The elders were able to capture photos of a few members modeling their new hats with big smiles. The hats warmed more than their heads—they warmed their hearts. The cards, filled with cheerful drawings and uplifting messages, were treasured just as much.
The collaboration between our youth and Care Ministry beautifully demonstrated what happens when different parts of the church come together in service: love multiplies, connections strengthen, and God’s joy shines through.
This year’s Valentine outreach didn’t just deliver gifts—it delivered warmth, community, and the reminder that no one in our congregation is forgotten.

Thyatira tolerated what was harmful to their faith. Jesus challenges us to follow Him with love, discernment, and integrity, refusing to compromise while continuing in faithful service.
Join us the this Wednesday March 11th as Pairs and Spared serves pizza and salad. Dinner served at 6:00 pm and service starts at 6:30 pm.
Worship service theme: Taking God at His Word.
Jonah finally arrives at Nineveh. But he seemingly brings a simplistic and discouraging message. Notice there’s no gospel only law. Yet the law does what the law is intended to do, to kill that His grace might make us alive.

Surrounded by compromise and false teaching, the church of Pergamum faced pressure to conform. Jesus calls them—and us—to remain faithful, hold fast to His Word, and stand firm in the truth. This sermon explores how God strengthens His people to live boldly and faithfully in a world of competing voices.
Join us the this Wednesday March 4th as Gather Commission feeds us a yummy dinner of pancakes, sausage and fruit. You are invited to join us in the Auditorium for Dining with Jesus, meal (6-6:30 pm) followed by worship (6:30-7:00 pm). Donations from this dinner will support: Middle School Youth Supplies.

Things have gotten dicey. While the fish swallowing the man is the part we are familiar with the reflections of Jonah often go unnoticed. Yet Jonah’s words are filled with deep theology and divine truths. Jonah pleads for God to set the captive free. It just so happens God is in that business.

As we begin our series we catch a glimpse with John of the glorified Christ—majestic, radiant, and holding the keys of life and death. Jesus is both awe-inspiring and deeply personal, walking among the seven churches, watching, warning, and guiding them. This passage sets the stage for our new series on the seven churches, where we’ll explore Christ’s words to each church.
Join us the this Wednesday February 25th as LWML feeds us a yummy dinner of chicken tenders, potato casserole, jello and dessert. You are invited to join us in the Auditorium for Dining with Jesus, meal (6-6:30 pm) followed by worship (6:30-7:00 pm). Donations from this dinner will support: 10% goes to Mites and 90% to the Mexico Youth Mission Trip.
Worship service theme: One Way.
There’s only one way to calm the storm and that is to throw Jonah into the water. They tried countless other tactics, but nothing worked. There was only one option and that is to sacrifice Jonah. The same remains true. The only way out of our pit and despair is via a sacrifice but not ours...

First fruits Sunday is a time to reflect on what it means to give God our first and best—not just in our finances, but in our time, talents, and devotion. It’s a declaration of trust, a posture of worship, and a commitment to live generously. When we honor God with our first fruits, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from Him and is for Him.
Please join your Timothy family on Ash Wednesday, February 18th, at 6 pm for a traditional service with Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes.
(No Ash Wednesday dinner.)
Then join us the remaining Wednesdays during Lent (February 25th-March 25th). You are invited to join us in the Auditorium for Dining with Jesus, meals (6-6:30 pm) followed by worship (6:30-7:00 pm).
You’ve heard the story since you were a little kid. Some may even have called it a tall tale. A man who was swallowed by a whale and then spit out again. Is that even possible? But here’s the thing, the Scriptures aren’t tall tales, they are accounts of God’s mighty work in a crazy world contorted by sin. And the book of Jonah is far more than a whale and a dude that smells fishy. The book of Jonah is a book that teaches us a whole lot about this thing called repentance. So, what better book to lead us this lent in our midweek time as we dine with Jesus. Join us.
There are seasons when settling feels safe—even necessary. But Lent invites us to ask deeper questions: Have we settled for “good enough” in our walk with Christ and in the life of the church? Have we grown comfortable with our strengths while ignoring the areas where we struggle or cling to sin?

But here’s the thing, the Scriptures aren’t tall tales, they are accounts of God’s mighty work in a crazy world contorted by sin. And the book of Jonah is far more than a whale and a dude that smells fishy. The book of Jonah is a book that teaches us a whole lot about this thing called repentance. So, what better book to lead us this lent in our midweek time as we dine with Jesus. Join us.

As we continue our series on Revitalizing Relationships, we turn our focus outward. God’s desire is not only for us to grow in relationship with Him and fellow believers—but also to extend His love to the world around us. Why should broken, hurting, and sin-stained people matter to us? Because they matter deeply to God. Join us this week as we explore His heart for the world and encounter the transforming power of His great love.
Another New Year is on the horizon, and we have much to be thankful for including Pastor Kendall, Lynn and family joining us here at Timothy. Now we set our eyes on what the Lord is calling us to as Timothy Lutheran Ministries in 2026. As we have prayerfully considered and conversed, the Lord has placed us to center our attention on Revitalizing Relationships by Sharing Sacred Spaces. So, we are going to kick off 2026 inviting you to join us as we work toward deepening our relationships with Jesus, with one another, and with those outsides. We are going to be challenged, exhorted, and encouraged in the year ahead. We are praying for God to do amazing things!

Have you ever wondered who provides the beautiful flowers displayed on the worship stage each Sunday? These arrangements are lovingly sponsored by members of our Timothy family to mark special moments—birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, confirmations, or to honor and remember loved ones who have passed.
Sponsoring worship flowers is a meaningful way to celebrate life’s important events while enhancing our worship space for the entire congregation.
We invite you to sign up today to purchase flowers for an upcoming Sunday. Your dedication will be listed in the worship bulletin, and the flowers will be yours to take home after services if you wish.
To reserve a date, simply sign up in the lobby or contact the church office for assistance.
Let’s continue to beautify our worship together—one bloom at a time.
