I’d love to live in a world where the phrase “no worries” is a reality. And maybe I wish that too much as I say the phrase often. But in this messed up world it is not even close to a reality. Today we are reminded of that as the sheep find themselves in the valley of darkness and death and here’s the thing, there’s no alternate route. How’s the Shepherd going to tend to us sheep in this inevitable situation? Come gather with the flock and find out.
We all know Psalm 23. It’s a passage that’s been committed to memory by countless people, a passage that brings comfort in times of sorrow, and a refrain often heard at funerals. But is this beloved Psalm just for the dying or those in grief? Or is it for us today, in every circumstance of our lives?
September 7th - October 12th, we will explore Psalm 23 and discover how it speaks to us and our lives with Christ. This Psalm isn't just about comfort in our final moments; it’s about finding comfort and guidance in our daily lives. Join us as we take a deep dive into this beloved Psalm and develop a greater understanding of what it truly means to walk with Jesus, our Good Shepherd.

Are you ready to start your day with purpose? JourneyMen invites you to join a new Bible study through the Book of James beginning Tuesday, October 21, from 6:30–7:30 a.m. We’ll gather at Royal Biscuit in Blue Springs at 15th and 40 Highway, where you can enjoy breakfast and coffee while diving into Scripture.
This study is open to all men who desire to grow stronger in their faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus. James challenges us to live out our faith with wisdom, perseverance, and integrity—truths every man need for daily life.
Whether you’re a regular in Bible study or just getting started, this is an opportunity to build meaningful connections and start your mornings with encouragement. Bring a friend, come hungry for the Word (and maybe for biscuits and gravy), and discover how God’s Word can reshape your walk.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make last weekend’s Timmy Burger booth a joyful success! From first-time volunteers to those with 30+ years of service, your dedication and energy were truly inspiring. We were blessed to see families serving together, friends teaming up, and smiling faces all around. Your willingness to give your time and talents helped create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflected the heart of our church community. Whether you flipped burgers, greeted guests, or simply showed up with a servant’s heart—you made a difference. We are so grateful for each of you! Let’s continue to serve with joy and love. See you again next year at the Timmy Burger Booth!

It will be a special opportunity to "grow" our friendships, knowledge of native plants & horticulture in general, and humble adoration for God's natural world in our midst.

Have you ever followed some advice from a well-meaning person that led you astray? Or maybe you've simply made a bad decision on your own. It's a humble part of life—we all make mistakes. The Bible often compares us to sheep, and let's be honest, sheep aren't exactly known for their great decision-making skills. But even when we wander down the wrong path, the Shepherd is still at work. How will he treat the sheep—like you and me—who get lost?

Charlie Johnson's meeting minutes ministry began long before transferring from Messiah to Timothy. He once served as congregation and board secretary for Peace Lutheran Church during the typewriter era (erasers/white correction fluid). After 23 years in banking, plus two IT careers designing and coding insurance and civil/criminal documents, Charlie retired in 2018—but not from serving. Since 1998, he has been typing away behind the scenes at Timothy, turning spoken words into meeting minutes—piecing together fragmented thoughts like a jigsaw puzzle missing half the edge pieces. His punctuation credo, “He never met an Oxford comma he didn’t like.”
He started on Timothy’s Parish Planning Council in May 1998 and co-designed a Timothy newsletter with Kathy Parish. Since then, it has grown into a steady meeting minutes ministry: Executive Board, Voters’ Assembly, Gather Commission, Next Generation Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Senior Pastor Call Committee, Ministry Planning Council, and Timothy's Constitution and bylaws—you name it, Charlie has probably documented it. He is also one of the leaders of the Tuesday Morning Men’s Bible Study, a weekly fellowship of Scripture and strong coffee.
Charlie is married to Lucy Johnson, the love of his life. They have two daughters, Emily and Sarah, and a long-haired dachshund named Rocky, who believes every meeting should include snacks, belly rubs, tail wags, and zero budget talks.
A huge thank-you goes out to all the incredible volunteers who signed up to serve at Fall Fun Fest this weekend! Your willingness to share your time and energy makes events like this possible, and we are so grateful for each and every one of you. From setting up and grilling to greeting guests and helping behind the scenes, your dedication helps us create a warm, welcoming space for our community.
If you weren’t able to volunteer this year, we’d still love for you to be part of the fun! Stop by, say hello, grab a delicious burger, and enjoy the festivities with us. Fall Fun Fest is all about celebrating togetherness, so the more familiar faces we see, the better the day becomes.
We can’t wait to see you this weekend—whether you’re serving, visiting, or just passing through, you’re an important part of what makes this community special!

While we often see sheep gathered in flocks, making no mistake about it, sheep want to be independent. At least the sheep who we see in the mirror each day. That independence comes from a desire for greener pastures and meaningful refreshments. The struggle is in the pursuit, sometimes we need some dangerous advice. Yet the Lord sees the wandering sheep and yes has compassion for them. But what will He do? Come gather with the flock and find out.

Diane Mayfield has called Blue Springs and Timothy home practically her entire life. It has been amazing to watch both grow from small to large over the years. Education has been "the family business" for the Mayfields, as both Brad and Diane are retired teachers from BSSD and their children (Allison Spencer and Andy Mayfield) and their spouses are employed in the district. What a blessing it is to have the entire family close to be a part of their families, especially watching their five grandkids grow and thrive. Diane has been highly involved in many Timothy ministries over the years and encourages everyone to find a ministry (maybe more than one!) to support as a volunteer. The relationships you foster with your Lord and others are definitely worth it!
Janet Masters extends heartfelt thanks for your prayers, cards, and kind thoughts following the passing of her sister, Leone. Your support is deeply appreciated.

There are those who are sheep, and there are those who are shepherds. Which one are you? Today we begin this deep dive into Psalm 23 by looking at verse one. Mr. Simon Murray is a native of Lee's Summit, Missouri and moved out to Grain Valley, Missouri last year. As a student, he attended Truman State University for his first two years and then graduated from Arkansas Tech University while studying Music and Spanish. The oboe is his instrument of choice and has performed with several orchestras, ensembles, and even performed with an American ensemble in Vienna, Austria. As for Spanish, although he has not been to a Spanish speaking country yet, and that is a major to-do on his bucket list, Mr. Murray has created friendships with many native and heritage speakers to further his love for the language. During his four years in college, Mr. Murray was a part of several college baseball teams.
Now in his spare time Mr. Murray is an aspiring professional baseball player and trains with some of the best players in the country. Mr. Murray is very excited to be here at Timothy Lutheran Ministries as he believes teaching the Spanish language is an important step to helping destroy cultural boundaries and creating unity between Spanish and non-Spanish speaking people.

The Hillcrest Gala proved to be another unforgettable evening, filled with entertainment, excitement, and community spirit. Guests enjoyed an outstanding menu featuring Mediterranean chicken roulade, wine-poached shrimp, and a selection of unique desserts. Guests participated in a lively auction featuring a wide range of high-value items, including luxury vacations to Hawaii, exquisite diamond jewelry, and memorabilia signed by basketball sensation Caitlin Clark.
In addition to the auction, attendees had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for seven exciting prize drawings. Prizes included a mix of gift cards, fun local activities, and even a backyard grilling experience.
The evening concluded with an energetic and crowd-pleasing fashion show, featuring KCT5 celebrities modeling outfits sourced entirely from Hillcrest Thrift Stores. It was a fitting finale that showcased both style and the spirit of giving.
Next year promises to be even more exciting, as it will mark the 50th anniversary of Hillcrest’s founding - a golden celebration you won’t want to miss.
Confirmation is underway, and we still need 8 caring people to serve as Prayer Pals for this year’s students! This simple but powerful ministry pairs a confirmed adult (confirmation age and up!) with a Confirmation student for the year.
What does a Prayer Pal do?
It’s easy — but incredibly meaningful. Just commit to:
Pray regularly for your Confirmation student
Reach out once a month with a quick text, card, or encouraging message
That’s it! A small-time investment that creates lasting connections and encourages our youth as they grow in faith.
Can you pray? Can you send a message?
Then you can be a Prayer Pal!
Help us ensure that every student has a Prayer Pal walking alongside them this year.

From generation-to-generation things change. Whether fashion, slang, or technology. In the church, as generations change, challenges can arise. Here at Timothy, we intended on being ahead of the curve. Just before one of the craziest times in our lives (COVID), we set our eyes on intentionally looking ahead and preparing for the Next Generation at Timothy. Since than things have been chaos. But as the dust settles here it’s time to reset our eyes on the calling the Lord has given to tell the Next Generation of the beauty of the gospel and to equip them to carry the torch. So, let’s regroup and get refocused.
The church in Scriptures is described as the “bride of Christ.” As we gather as Timothy Lutheran Church and School, the question is, do we look like Christ’s bride? And the answer is probably “not always.” So, how does Timothy Lutheran Ministries pursue the identity God has given to us? Well, throughout our history here in Blue Springs, we have sought to stay grounded in that identity by rallying around a vision. That vision is to “transform lives through Christ.” Through August 31, we are going to come back to that vision grounded in biblical truths and refresh our hearts and minds to the calling and commitment we must walk as Christ's bride, right where He put us.
Discover the joy and strength of family worship together at Timothy's Family Sunday on August 31st at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM worship services. This special service is designed for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. Experience the power of shared faith as we come together to praise God, learn from His Word, and strengthen our bonds as a family. Let's create lasting memories and build a strong spiritual foundation together. Bring the whole family and be inspired!

At our August LWML Society Meeting, we were blessed to welcome Debbie Dalton from Resource Health Pregnancy Center. Her genuine passion for the center’s life-saving and life-changing mission was evident throughout her visit.
Debbie shared how Resource Health serves both women and men across the Kansas City area through Christ-centered medical services and family-strengthening programs. Their goal: to provide hope, support, and practical care during life’s most challenging moments.
It is a true privilege for LWML to partner with and support this compassionate, Christian-led organization as they continue to make a profound impact in our community.
Learn from Rev. David Fleming and Dr. Beverly Yahnke how we can stand on truth in love regarding sexuality in a post-Christian culture.
With the legal redefinition of marriage, the confusion regarding gender, and rapidly changing sexual morels in society, Biblical educators, pastors, singles, couples, and parents are looking for guidance in articulating and promoting a positive view of Christian vision for marriage and sexuality. Our goal is to equip people with tools to speak constructively and to live confidently amid the current confusion.
I cannot thank you enough for your faithful and on going support in my theological training. Your generosity and encouragement make it possible for me to pursue this calling, and I am deeply grateful.
My most recent class was both challenging and exciting as I began learning biblical Greek. While it has stretched me in new ways, it has also been a tremendous joy to study the language in which our Lord chose to communicate the New Testament. Each new word and grammatical insight open the Scriptures in a deeper and richer way, reminding me of the beauty and precision of God’s Word.
Your prayers and support are a tangible expression of the body of Christ at work, and I am continually inspired by your partnership in the gospel. Thank you for walking alongside me on this journey.

We all have stories of things that we have witnessed in life. From sporting events to life-changing moments, to devastating encounters, to unbelievable sights. And with each of these things we have witnessed, we have a story to tell. Today we navigate our fourth G here at Timothy, GO. And God through out Scriptures has called people and prepared people to GO. What are we supposed to do? Witness, of course. Yet this has become a very awkward thing for many of us to the point where we don’t even feel we know how to do it. As we look at the Scriptures, we recognize what the calling is about, why it is necessary, and how to pursue it as God continue to form us as His church.
The church in Scriptures is described as the “bride of Christ.” As we gather as Timothy Lutheran Church and School, the question is, do we look like Christ’s bride? "Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance." — Proverbs 1:5 (NIV)
Join us this Sunday, August 24th, as we honor and dedicate the amazing teachers and staff of Timothy Lutheran School and Church during our worship services. Timothy Lutheran School Ministries began the year with a beautiful reminder of God’s promises—a rainbow! We gathered for chapel to center our hearts on Him as we launch into a year of learning, growth, and faith. Our theme, "Let’s Make a Joyful Noise!" (Psalm 98:4), sets the tone for what we know will be a Christ-filled year. We can’t wait to see how God works through our students, families, and staff. Here’s to a joyful, Spirit-led school year ahead!

We know what is supposed to happen when something is planted. It is supposed to GROW. And when it doesn’t, we think something must be wrong. God has planted within each of us the seed of faith. And what should we expect that faith to do? GROW! But how does that faith grown, and what is the purpose of the growth? Those are the things we will explore this week, so join us.

Every day, it is estimated that there are over 8,000 GoFundMe pages set up so people can GIVE to a certain cause. There is certainly no shortage of places to give our money. But we also know the world is filled with requests to give our time, and energy also. And the church is one of those places. As people of God, we know giving matters and we know hen we attend church at Timothy we are going to hear about it. But what if we hear about it in a different way. Join us as we worship and wrestle with what means to GIVE.

The Call Committee was busy with weekly zoom interviews with Senior Pastor candidates on Tuesday evening in July. Each of these interviews has been insightful and fruitful as we seek to discern God’s Will in finding the man He has already chosen as Timothy’s next Senior Pastor.
Second interviews with a select group of the candidates will be scheduled for August. While it has been a very busy summer at Timothy and for the all Committee’s and candidates’ personal schedules, we remain diligent throughout the process and are pleased with progress so far. A goal is to send a slate of candidates for congregational review and vote in September.
Please continue to keep the Divine Call process, Timothy’s Call committee, Timothy church, and the senior pastor candidates and their churches in your prayers. May God’s Will be done.

We GATHER together just about everywhere we go. Sports games, homes, community pools, school, work, parks, and more. The church gathers too but there’s something distinctly different about the Gathering of the church. And that is, Jesus is at the center of it all. That doesn’t seem all that different, and yet it changes everything. Join us as we explore our call as the church to GATHER in Christ.

Sixteen youth and four adults returned home after traveling to New Orleans from July 17-23 to join 20,000+ other youth from around the country and the globe at the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Youth Gathering which occurs every 3 years. Their trip started out with 1.5 days of exploring New Orleans, team building, and devotions covering spiritual warfare. The Gathering then officially started Saturday night. Each night from Saturday through Tuesday, everyone attending, piled into the Superdome and we worshiped, encountered skits which deepened our understanding of the Gather theme “Endure,” heard from powerful speakers like Michael Zeigler (Lutheran Hour Speaker), Bethany Hamilton (Soul Surfer), Flame (Lutheran theologian and rapper - yes you read that correctly), and recapped each day. Then during the morning Sunday - Tuesday we attended Bible study with 5,000 others as we dove into our theme text from Hebrews 12:1 - 3 with two pastors. The afternoons were spent attending speaker sessions from over 115 different topics and over 50 different speakers.
Our kids attended talks on knowing their worth, the impact of mass media, what it means to be Lutheran, honoring God through dating, following Jesus on a wild ride, and so much more. During the afternoons we also had opportunities to connect with various Lutheran colleges, districts, organizations, donate blood, and even get a little gaga ball in to burn off some energy. Our youth also had the privilege on Monday to do a servant event at a local school in the city of New Orleans. We spread mulch, pulled weeds, cleaned walls, and readied the school for a new year leaving a blessing for the community that welcomed us for this Gathering. behind the scenes we walked no less than 20,000 steps a day, drank countless jugs of water, enjoyed some tastes of New Orleans like jambalaya, fried alligator, and beinets. We will be showing a video at worship on Sunday August 3rd to add some visuals to these words so please join us for worship. For now through we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all who supported us through financial support, prayer, and encouragement. Lives have been transformed through Christ and we are excited for the ways God will continue to grow those seeds.

It all starts with the vision. This past Saturday, several dedicated members of our church family gathered to care for and improve the grounds of Timothy Lutheran. We extend our sincere gratitude to Tary Krahenbuhl, Jeff Kappelman, Louie Wilbers, Bob and Sandy Logan for their hard work and servant hearts during the cleanup effort.
The team worked diligently to clear tall weeds from both corners of the property and trimmed back overgrowth along the side of the road. Their efforts have made the property cleaner, safer, and more welcoming to all who visit.
It’s moments like these that reflect the love and unity within our church family—individuals coming together in service to glorify God through their actions.
We are reminded of the encouragement found in Scripture:
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
Thank you again to Tary, Jeff, Louie, Bob, and Sandy. Your work is appreciated more than words can express, and your example inspires us all to serve with joyful hearts.
