Carry On

Here we begin to see that Jesus is abundantly clear about where this walk leads to: the cross, the resurrection, and, in time, the ascension. The time is coming when Jesus will no longer be here in the flesh, and yet those who follow will be called to  "carry on." But in that calling we have to realize it won't be a nice stroll in the park. How in the world should we do that? Come and find out.

Walk with Jesus!

Do you yearn for a deeper connection with God?
This sentiment of "I can't live without you!" often reflects our deepest longings. But there's only One we truly cannot live without: our Lord, Jesus Christ.

This spring, we dined with Jesus through Lent and Easter. Now, we continue our journey with a brand new sermon series: Walk with Jesus! We now delve into the Gospel of Luke, following Jesus' footsteps. We see Him teaching along the road, answering questions, and transforming moments into powerful lessons.

Just as the disciples walked with Jesus, we too can journey with Him. Through this series, we'll discover new truths, deepen our faith, and draw closer to God. If you desire more of Jesus, join us! Let's walk with Him each week and experience the transformative power of His presence.

Scuba VBS 2024

VBS Adopt a Student

We need you! Yes, you make VBS an amazing opportunity for our kiddos to learn and grow in their faith. There are many ways to support VBS week, July 15th - 19th, but perhaps one of the easiest is to grab an “Adopt a Student” Envelope off our VBS donation wall (look for the hanging scuba diver in the atrium), put whatever amount of $ in there you can, and place it in the offering plate. Every dollar helps as it supports our students' supplies, snacks, t-shirts, and more.

Reminder: Another way is to click on the church website under GIVE, select fund, and scroll to VBS Adopt-a-Student. Thank you!

RESOURCE HEALTH IS FUELING FAMILIES

Resource Health pregnancy resource center (formerly Rachel House) gives nearly 5,000 QT gas cards yearly to every person who walks through the door, to enable them to return for needed assistance and education.  Look for the big red gas cans on the table in the narthex one more Sunday, June 30th , and help fill the cans with $10 QT gas cards, cash, or checks, payable to Resource Health.  100% of your gifts will go towards assisting the families of those served by RH.  Visit www.resourcehealthpartners.org to learn more about this faith-based organization (which Timothy supports with its tithes).

Celebrate Independence Day

God bless America! As you celebrate the Fourth of July this year, remember to thank Him for many blessings we enjoy as Americans. If you are interested in attending a free community event, the Red, White, and Blue Springs celebration on Wed., July 3, will be held at BS South High School & Young Park, with gates opening  at 3pm. The celebration includes live music, fireworks (starting at 9:30pm), vendors, a magician, yard games, beer garden, and more.

Lighthouse Fireworks will again operate a fireworks tent on Timothy’s property at the corner of Lincoln St.  and Highway 7. Worshipers can take a worship bulletin or staff ID to receive 10% discount on purchases.

Pointe of Hope will also operate a tent at their location on North Highway 7. They are offering free snow cones from 5-9pm each night of the sales. Fun, safe holiday to all!

Senior Pastor Congregational Survey

The Senior Pastor Congregational Survey is LIVE, and the Call Committee urges all members, ages 14 & up, to complete it before 11:59 pm this Sunday, June 30. Your voice matters! Responses are anonymous. The MO District gathers and tabulates the data which will be important in creating a new Senior Pastor position description as well as valuable information for prospective candidates to learn about Timothy.

Completing the survey electronically is preferred, but paper copies can be picked up at church and returned to the Senior Pastor Survey Collection Box for Call Committee members to input manually before June 30. Call Committee members will help worshipers complete the survey online on Sunday mornings by using tablets at the table in the lobby. Other methods include clicking on the QR code found on the worship bulletin insert each Sunday in June. The survey is also available on the church website (www.timothylutheran.com) under the About Us link (Church Manuals and Reports).

A Senior Pastor Nomination Form is now available for worshipers to complete if they have a Lutheran pastor in mind to nominate as Timothy’s next Senior Pastor. Feel free to pick up a copy in the Nomination Form tray at church and return to its Collection Box by June 30. All nominations will be sent to the District Office for President Hagan to consider as he compiles the list of candidates for Timothy’s consideration.

Please continue to keep this divine call process and the Call Committee in your prayers as we seek God’s Will in finding the shepherd He already has chosen to serve as Timothy’s next Senior Pastor. Thank you!

Family Worship on 5th Sundays!  Hey, Timothy families!  One children’s ministry goal is to have family worship on Sundays.  We know Faithroots provides opportunities for parents and kids to learn at their own levels, but we also know worshipping together is vital for spiritual and family growth. So on 5th Sundays (4 times a year) we are NOT having Faithroots and will begin working toward a unique and more family-friendly environment on those Sundays. THIS SUNDAY will be our first Sunday.  You may not notice a lot of changes this Sunday, but we are planning more things for September. Please reach out to Pastor Ryan with questions or ideas!

Church and School Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, but will be open on Friday, July 5.

Food Donation
Thank you for continuing to support this vital ministry to support those who are in need of food! Donations for July will be delivered to Hillcrest Transitional Housing in Lees Summit.  Donations may be placed in the grocery cart which sits in the Church lobby just to the right (east) of the south entry doors.  Their requested non-perishable food items are canned meats or canned fruits, sugar, flour, beans, cooking oil, diapers (any size), paper towels, pancake mix and syrup but any non-perishable food items will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again for your food donations!

Special Voters’ Meeting  There will be a Special Voters’ Meeting on Sunday, July 14, immediately following the 10:30 service to vote on the following motion:  “The Timothy Lutheran School Board, with the support of the Executive Board and Board of Elected Elders, moves to call emeritus teacher Ronda Krekel to fill an open TLS teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year.”  A minimum of 40 congregant members is required for a quorum; this is the only item on the agenda. Please plan to attend! Thank you!

Come and Follow

We finally get to the place where Jesus invites us to join Him on this walk. That's one of the amazing things about God. While He could do everything alone, He chooses to bring people along with Him. And so, He reaches out to some unlikely, untrained people, like most of us, to come along. But insufficiency always stands in the way. So, what are you lacking?

Walk with Jesus!

Do you yearn for a deeper connection with God?
This sentiment of "I can't live without you!" often reflects our deepest longings. But there's only One we truly cannot live without: our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Appreciation for Timothy's Tithe

This year Timothy awarded its Church Worker Tithe to Megan Balla, a former member of Timothy and Sandy Gregory’s daughter, who is completing coursework for a graduate certificate in Christian ministry.  Below is Megan’s recent update letter to Timothy:
“Dear Timothy Lutheran Church,
What a joy it has been studying the Books of Romans through Revelation over the past eight weeks in my theological training. I cannot thank you enough for your support, which has made it possible for me to be better equipped to teach and lead women at my church.
I wanted to share a few of the main points that stood out to me from this class. First, as I read through the New Testament Epistles, it became clear how every book provides some reminder or grounding in the Gospel message. This is important because Gospel unites every New Testament writer. My professor highlighted Martin Luther’s insight on this, noting that we forget the Gospel every day and thus need daily reminders of it.
Second, I was surprised to realize how much the New Testament church struggled with sin, just as we do today. This is especially evident in Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church, where he addresses them as “those sanctified” (1 Cor. 1:2). This was a lightbulb moment for me, realizing that God already sees us as righteous and sanctified, even while we continue to fight sin. I also learned another phrase from Luther, “Simul Justus et peccator,” which means “at the same time righteous and sinner.” What a beautiful truth that reminds us of God’s abounding saving grace.
My next class is my first systematic theology course. I look forward to providing another update soon!
In Him,
Megan Balla”

Wandering in the Wilderness

Most photographic walks occur at the side of a stream, through the mountains, through the forest, or amidst a field of flowers. But not this one Jesus takes us on. Nope, Jesus takes us through the wilderness. There we find Him hungry, worn, and attacked by one of our great enemies, Satan. Yet there's a purpose for it all. Jesus leads us back to where His people failed, to remind us that He won't.

We'll delve into the Gospel of Luke, following Jesus' footsteps. We'll see Him teaching along the road, answering questions, and transforming moments into powerful lessons.

Just as the disciples walked with Jesus, we too can journey with Him. Through this series, we'll discover new truths, deepen our faith, and draw closer to God. If you desire more of Jesus, join us! Let's walk with Him each week and experience the transformative power of His presence.

LWML Missouri District Convention

Following the theme "He will make your paths straight" from Proverbs 3:5-6, several Timothy LWML members followed the pathway to Independence to attend the 28th Biennial LWML Missouri District Convention last weekend.  There was no disappointment, as the event involved a Banner Procession by attending Zones designed in the Convention's theme and a Worship Service with Holy Communion Friday evening followed by some karaoke (yes, a few Timothy LWML ladies participated against their better judgment).  The weekend generated an array of speakers; voting for Officers, Pastoral Counselors, and Mission Grants; a Silent Auction; multiple displays and vendors; a Mission Fair; a Mission Walk; Gifts from the Heart submissions; and LWML Jeopardy game hosted by our own Deanna Cross.  What an uplifting and enlightening few days to share God's love, meet old friends, and make new ones!

RESOURCE HEALTH IS FUELING FAMILIES

Resource Health pregnancy resource center gives nearly 5,000 QT gas cards yearly to every person who walks through the door, to enable them to return for needed assistance and education.  Look for the big red gas cans on the table in the narthex on Sunday, June 16, 23, and 30, and help fill the cans with $10 QT gas cards, cash, or checks, payable to Resource Health.  100% of your gifts will go towards assisting the families of those served by RH.  Visit www.resourcehealthpartners.org to learn more about this faith-based organization (which Timothy supports with its tithes).

Senior Pastor Congregational Survey

The Senior Pastor Congregational Survey is LIVE, and the Call Committee urges all members, ages 14 & up, to complete it before 11:59 pm on Sunday, June 30.

Thank you!

Children & Youth Ministry Needs Helping Hands

Children & Youth Ministry here at Timothy is rolling, and while things are a bit quiet this summer until VBS (July 15-19), we are prepping and preparing for the upcoming fall season. We need helping hands! Each Sunday, we need a few more hands to assist with the rotation stations during FaithRoots. Can you help one Sunday a month, whether by sharing the Bible story or just helping on the sidelines?  Responsible middle schoolers and older as well as adults are encouraged to volunteer and can even observe a week before committing. Please reach out to Pastor Ryan if you can help. Thank you!

Adam's Army Blood Drive

Thank you, Timothy, for once again showing up to support the Annual Adam’s Army Blood Drive! In its 19th year and first to be held on a Saturday, the Community Blood Center is very appreciative that Timothy’s goal of 40 usable donated pints fulfilled 100% of its goal! These 40 pints represent 120 lives saved! Thanks also to the Reed family for continuing to honor their son Adam’s memory through this important ministry by organizing all the details, including preparing and serving a delicious lunch, and to the volunteers manning the check-in table and snack table. A special thank you to Rod’s Sports for once again providing t-shirts for volunteers and donors.  To God Be the Glory!

Family Worship on 5th Sundays!  Hey Timothy families!  One children’s ministry goal is to have family worship on Sundays.  We know Faithroots provides opportunities for parents and kids to learn at their own levels but we also know worshipping together is vital for spiritual and family growth. So on 5th Sundays (4 times a year) we are NOT having Faithroots and begin working toward a unique and more family-friendly environment on those Sundays. June 30th will be our first Sunday.  You may not notice a lot of changes that Sunday but we are planning more things for September. Please reach out to Pastor Ryan with questions or ideas!

“Members of Timothy Lutheran Church,
A huge thank you to you all for walking with the Missouri District in our statewide servant event. With approximately 10,800 participants, this was our largest SHINE! to date. That doesn’t happen without a lot of encouragement and support—and Timothy is one loud, joyful, and committed cheerleader (everything you’d want a cheerleader to be!) We’re thankful for your partnership—not just with SHINE!—but also in the way you show God’s love to those in the KC Metro and beyond. It’s awesome to be able to work in this Kingdom with you all. Shine on!
Leah Sieveking”

Preparation for the Journey

Before you begin any journey, it’s important to prep. As we embark on this walk with Jesus throughout the summer here at Timothy, we also need to prepare ourselves to listen, watch, and reflect on what He will share with us. In order to do that, we are going to turn to a man who was called to prepare us.  His name is John, and his tactics seem a little rough, with his call to repentance, but perhaps that is exactly what we need.

Walk with Jesus!

Do you yearn for a deeper connection with God?

This sentiment of “I can’t live without you!” often reflects our deepest longings. But there’s only One we truly cannot live without: our Lord, Jesus Christ.

This spring, we dined with Jesus through Lent and Easter. Now, we continue our journey with a brand new sermon series: Walk with Jesus!

Call Committee Senior Pastor Congregational Survey

Timothy’s Call Committee urges the congregation, ages 14 & up, to complete the Congregational Survey for Timothy’s next Senior Pastor between 12:01am Sunday, June 9, and 11:59pm Sunday, June 30. Your voice matters!

Even though the survey will be “live” starting at 12:01am this Sunday, the only opportunity to complete it this Sunday will be by either clicking on the QR code on the bulletin insert when you come for worship or by completing the survey at the table in the lobby, where you will find Call Committee members with tablets to assist you. On Monday morning, June 10, a congregational email, containing the link to complete the survey online, will distribute to all members with accurate email addresses on file at Timothy. A few print copies of the survey will be available at the table in the lobby, to be placed in the Survey Collection Box when completed, by June 30 at the latest, because all print surveys will be manually posted to SurveyMonkey by Call Committee members. All responses, regardless of method of completion, will remain anonymous.

For the rest of the month, worshipers will find an insert with the QR code in each Sunday bulletin as well as a table in the lobby, manned by Call Committee members to help worshipers. The link will NOT be directly available in Timothy Connects, church website, or social media formats. If you have questions, please contact Call Committee Chair Tary Krahenbuhl (816.890.0941).

The MO District personnel will gather and record all data from SurveyMonkey. In July, results of the survey will be delivered to the Call Committee, after which the Call Committee will share with the congregation. The purposes of the survey are to assist in preparing an updated position description for Timothy’s next Senior Pastor as well as to serve as information potential Senior Pastor candidates can use to learn about Timothy’s congregation.

Please continue to keep this divine call process and the Call Committee in your prayers as we seek God’s Will in welcoming another shepherd to Timothy. Thank you!

Senior High Graduates

Back on May 26th we celebrated our graduating seniors who were connected to our congregation. Unfortunately, a mistake was made, and we missed Gretchen Elaine Freeman and Emma Louise Freeman. So we wanted to take a moment and celebrate these 2 young ladies and all their accomplishments, especially as graduates of Blue Springs South High School.  Both were baptized and confirmed here at Timothy. Gretchen plans to attend MCC and play softball on a scholarship to study Radiology. Emma plans to attend MCC, as well, on a scholarship to study Occupational Therapy. Congrats to these 2 young ladies, and we pray the Lord would continue to draw them to Himself as He leads them forward in life.

Honoring God and Others Matters

Imagine the church as a beacon of encouragement, hope, and blessing. The potential flourishes when we honor and respect each other’s faith journeys and roles. However, our human flaws can sometimes lead us down a path of conflict. So how can we bridge these gaps and walk together in a way that honors God and fosters unity?

The Kind of Freedom We Actually Need

On Monday, Memorial Day, I took a ride around the cemetery to see the flags marked with names of those who gave their lives, and I am proud of the sacrifice made by so many for the country I love. Thinking of them today sobers me. Even so, what I feel toward them pales in comparison to the gratitude I feel when I consider the sacrifice Jesus made to secure ultimate freedom for all of us.
If we lose sight of the true hero of our human condition, we risk worshipping lesser gods. There is only One whose sacrifice purchased a freedom we can’t lose. He gave His life so we would live. And He gave His life willingly, without a fight, because He knew the only way to achieve a world without wars was to lay His weapons down. Jesus made it clear the kind of freedom He was fighting for:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Luke 4:18-19
On Memorial Day we honor the men and women who lost their lives in war, not just in the United States but around the world. Ours is a world in need of healing, a people in need of freedom. We need more than warriors or weapons can achieve for us. We need a Savior. Hallelujah, we already have Him.

Church Matters

Resurrection Sunday is the pinnacle of our faith and the amazing work of Christ on our behalf. But it isn’t the end. As Jesus stepped out of that tomb, He spent the next 40 days preparing His disciples to be the bricklayers for building His church. And then on Pentecost, He entrusted them with His Holy Spirit to carry on the task.

Today, we still take part in this incredible thing called the church. Yet, at times, we forget what it’s all about or what matters within the church. As we continue our transition here at Timothy, we will take time this spring to let the Lord remind us what matters to Him within His church. To do that, we will work our way through the book of 1 Timothy.

1 Timothy is a letter written by the Apostle Paul to a young pastor named Timothy as he navigates the church he has been called to lead. In this letter, Paul reminds both Timothy and the church of some incredibly important things that keep the church grounded in its identity.

This Sunday is the final message in our series called “Church Matters.” Together, we studied some of the things that matter within the church so that we might continue to pursue the calling of God and rejoice that we get to be a part of His church.

This Summer: Walk with Jesus!

Starting June 9th, we’ll delve into the Gospel of Luke, following Jesus’ footsteps. We’ll see Him teaching along the road, answering questions, and transforming moments into powerful lessons.

Just as the disciples walked with Jesus, we too can journey with Him. Through this series, we’ll discover new truths, deepen our faith, and draw closer to God.

If you desire more of Jesus, join us! Let’s walk with Him each week and experience the transformative power of His presence.

Timothy’s Call Committee met on May 28 to review the rough draft of the Senior Pastor Congregational Survey.  After suggested revisions are incorporated by the MO District personnel, the survey will be available for the congregation to complete between 12:01 am Sunday, June 9, and 11:59pm Sunday, June 30, 2024.

The congregation is urged to complete the congregational survey online for ease and timeliness of recording the data.  If anyone requests help with this process, Call Committee members will be available at a table in the lobby at church on June 9, 16, 23, & 30 for that purpose. A limited number of hard copies will also be available at the Call Committee table which must be returned by June 30 for Call Committee members to manually input the responses online. A collection box for the printed surveys will be on the Call Committee table in the lobby on Sundays or on the round table at entrance to Auditorium during the week.  The MO District will use Survey Monkey to gather and record data from the congregational surveys. All responses will be anonymous.

Please continue to keep the divine call process and the Call Committee in your prayers. Thank you!

Highlighting Timothy Tithes

Today we highlight Timothy’s tithe for the LAMP ministry (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots). Through your generous tithes and donations, we support LAMP in its efforts to share Jesus Christ with indigenous people in the remote areas of Canada. Please take time to learn about this organization at https://lampministry.org.

Thank you!

Timothy’s Hillcrest Apartment Update

Timothy’s Hillcrest apartment has a new resident! Blair Graham appreciates Timothy’s assistance very much. While she has a church home that she attends, she appreciates our prayers. Blair has two daughters, ages 4 and 9 months, who are both into Minnie Mouse!

Blair works as a hospice CNA. Her goals at Hillcrest are to get out of debt, purchase tags for her car, and move back to Independence. Although she can get a box of diapers and wipes each month from Happy Bottoms, it is not enough. If anyone would like to donate a box of size 2 or 3 diapers or box of wipes, please drop them off at the front desk in the church lobby.

If you would like to send a card of encouragement to Blair, her address is 501 SW Mission Road #507C, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Thank you, Timothy, for continuing to support Timothy’s apartment at Hillcrest. We are transforming lives through Christ!

If you would like to join Timothy’s Hillcrest Team, contact Sandy Gregory (816-874-8042)

Food demands do not take a vacation in the summer. In fact, the demand for food has increased, especially for some school-age children not receiving school lunches. True Contentment Matters

Are you feeling restless, like something is missing but you can't quite place it?  Join us for worship this week, where we'll explore the idea of true fulfillment.  The Bible teaches us that chasing material possessions can leave us empty, but there's a deeper joy to be found.  Come discover the peace and contentment that comes from trusting in God's promises.

Some of the Most Relief Giving Words

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. James 1:5 The Message
These might be some of the most relief-giving words in the Bible: “If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray  to the Father. He loves to help.” So often in life, we don’t know what we’re doing! We don’t know what we’re doing with our careers, with parenting a difficult child, with finding the right treatment for a daunting diagnosis. We don’t know how to help a friend understand our perspective or how to move forward from past trauma. Today’s Scripture assures us that it’s okay not to know! Because God is here to help.
The NIV translation says it this way: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5).
Raise your hand if you’re lacking wisdom today. Pray and ask God for what you need! He is so kind, generous, and faithful to give it.

Church Matters

Resurrection Sunday is the pinnacle of our faith and the amazing work of Christ on our behalf. But it isn't the end. As Jesus stepped out of that tomb, He spent the next 40 days preparing His disciples to be the bricklayers for building His church. And then on Pentecost, He entrusted them with His Holy Spirit to carry on the task.

Today, we still take part in this incredible thing called the church. Yet, at times, we forget what it's all about or what matters within the church.

Our series will be called "Church Matters." We are eager to spend April and May studying together some of the things that matter within the church so that we might continue to pursue the calling of God and rejoice that we get to be a part of His church.

Call Committee Update

Timothy’s Call Committee is currently preparing the Senior Pastor Congregational Survey. After final draft is  prepared by the MO District personnel, this survey will be available for the congregation to complete, either online or print copy, from June 9 – 30. Thank you for continuing to keep the Call Committee and the entire call process in your prayers.

Highlighting Timothy Tithes

Today we are highlighting Timothy's tithe for Lutherans for Life. Through your generous tithes and donations, we can support Lutherans for Life in their efforts to promote life-affirming values and provide resources for individuals facing difficult decisions regarding pregnancy, end-of-life care, and other critical issues.

Lutherans For Life exists to equip Lutherans and their neighbors to be Gospel-motivated voices For Life. They do this through their quarterly journal, “LifeDate,” countless resources produced for local congregations, Life Sunday materials, speaking and preaching, online Chats 4Life, Frontline conference calls, Life Teams, Life Chapters, and Life Advocates, as well as national and regional conferences.

Timothy Hillcrest Team Needs You

Timothy Lutheran Church has been a part of the Hillcrest Transitional Housing team for many years.  If you don’t already know, Hillcrest is a program that helps move homeless families and youth from homelessness to self-sufficiency, becoming self-supporting, self-reliant contributors to society. Timothy sponsors an apartment in Lee’s Summit.  Participants in the program usually stay in our apartment for 3 months.

We praise God for the success of the recent graduates: 1) he used his time at Hillcrest to save over $4000 but also to cultivate positive habits for a better life;  (2) during her time in the program she has demonstrated a strong commitment to personal and financial growth, managing to save over $5000; (3) recognizing her own needs and the needs of her daughter, she has taken the necessary steps to improve their future; (4) throughout her journey in the program, she encountered numerous obstacles but did not let them deter her from her ultimate goal of securing housing for herself and her 4 children, whose story serves as an inspiration to others that even the most difficult circumstances can be overcome;  (5) his journey with Hillcrest has been marked with determination to dedicate himself in paying off his eviction as well as focusing on his emotional well-being and working to rebuild significant relationships, particularly with his parents and his son.

If you would love to be a part of Timothy's Hillcrest team, contact Sandy Gregory at church (816-228-5300). Currently, we need help cleaning and restocking the apartment when residents leave, approximately every 3 months.  We would love a hospitality group that takes a meal when the new resident moves in, send cards to our residents during their stay, and helps with graduation, birthdays, holidays, etc.  This is not a big time commitment but a chance to walk alongside someone working so hard.

Serving Matters

In today's passage, Paul offers inspiring words to Timothy, but his message extends far beyond Timothy. We are all servants of Christ Jesus, and though the world may try to belittle and discourage us, our work for transforming lives through Christ and the strength we find in each other will propel us forward until the glorious return of our Lord Jesus.

When You Struggle While Running the Race of Life

A while ago I hurt my ankle. After time, healing and therapy, I woke up on a sunny morning and laced up my sneakers. I was ready to begin walking again. You got this! The voice of hope whispered. Yeah. I got this! I  whispered back. But my motivational pep talk waned as I labored to breathe, and my legs grew heavy. What a disappointment. Just like that, I allowed pessimism to replace the voice of hope.

Starting over is a courageous act that requires faith — and it’s okay to begin again. Sometimes it’s even necessary. God doesn’t hold us hostage to our past or compare whom we are today to whom we were yesterday. God sees us as the people He created us to be before He laid the foundations of the earth. When we’re struggling while running the race of life, barely catching our breath, God never changes His mind about us based on our performance. He is our Ultimate Coach — strengthening our feeble arms for the journey, propelling us forward through fatigue, quenching our thirst, and nourishing our weary souls.
When life happens and we want to give up, He reminds us whom we are from His lens. We just need to trust the Coach and exercise patience with ourselves during the process — even if it means beginning again.
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

Our series will be called "Church Matters." We are eager to spend April and May studying together some of the things that matter within the church so that we might continue to pursue the calling of God and rejoice that we get to be a part of His church.

Call Committee Update

Last Thursday, the Call Committee welcomed MO District President Dr. Lee Hagan and Circuit Visitor Pastor Gary Stolle to its meeting to learn an overview of the steps in the divine call process for our next Senior Pastor. The congregation is encouraged to view these steps on Timothy’s website in the About Us link.

Before leading extensive discussion and answering follow-up questions concerning these steps, President Hagan outlined three options for the committee’s focus:  1) calling a current Timothy associate pastor; 2) not calling a current Timothy associate pastor; and 3) calling a pastor from outside the congregation.

At the Call Committee meeting last night, Pastor Peter Kirby from the MO District was welcomed as he led the group through the development of a Congregational Survey which will be available in early June for the congregation to complete. Please continue to keep the Call Committee and the entire call process in your prayers. Thank you!

Shepherds Matter

Though Jesus leads the Church, He entrusts ministry to carefully chosen pastors. These leaders aren't simply appointed; Jesus sets clear expectations and holds them accountable for this weighty calling. The congregation also plays a vital role, both in honoring and challenging their pastors.

MOMS

Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."

Moms are the ones who hug, dance, and snuggle. Moms get overwhelmed, whose snarls sometimes come easier than smiles. Moms live in the push-pull of exhaustion and joy. Moms long for more. More grace. More patience. More coffee. More time (always more time). More Christ in them. At the same time, moms long for less. Less laundry. Less fighting. Less yelling. Less clutter. Less selfishness. Less guilt. Less business.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I know that it is a complex day full of many emotions and experiences. Every single woman who loves, encourages, and nurtures the children in her life becomes part of the next generation. We all are doing amazing work and is to be celebrated.

Church Matters

Resurrection Sunday is the pinnacle of our faith and the amazing work of Christ on our behalf. But it isn't the end. As Jesus stepped out of that tomb, He spent the next 40 days preparing His disciples to be the bricklayers for building His church. Please continue to keep the Call Committee and the call process in your prayers, that His will be done to find the next man to serve as Timothy's Senior Pastor.

God Speaks Incomplete

Though Jesus leads the Church, he entrusts ministry to carefully chosen pastors. These leaders aren't simply appointed; Jesus sets clear expectations and holds them accountable for this weighty calling. The congregation also plays a vital role, both in honoring and challenging their pastors.

The Grace of the Upside-Down Kingdom

“The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart — not reluctantly or out of compulsion since God loves a cheerful giver. And God can make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Generosity and provision in the Kingdom of God don’t make sense. From our perspective, there’s always an end.  Things run out, whether that’s finances, energy, or time. It seems that if we give too much, if we invest too much, we may not get the same in return, or we may even burn out.
But God’s Kingdom is an upside-down kingdom. As the passage says, He can make every grace overflow to you. It won’t come from striving or hustling, but it will flow from the Father down to you and then to those around you. We can sow generously, and give generously, because the overflow of God’s provision of abundant grace never ends.

Church Matters

Resurrection Sunday is the pinnacle of our faith and the amazing work of Christ on our behalf. But it isn't the end. As Jesus stepped out of that tomb, He spent the next 40 days preparing His disciples to be the bricklayers for building His church. Grace Matters

Do you ever question your faith? It's common. We all have moments of doubt, and the enemy loves to fuel that doubt. But remember, those doubts don't define you. God's grace extends to everyone, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. Let's refocus on the power of that grace today.

Hope for When Life Doesn't Add Up

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.
He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. Gen. 50:20

As I dumped the bag of 100 puzzle pieces onto the table, I was challenged because the box was gone. It’s hard to attempt something so confusing without guidance.
Putting together a puzzle without the picture is like trying to fix life’s problems without considering God’s blueprint for our lives. Our relationships, our friendships, and our families are all pieces of God’s master puzzle, but we must use the Bible as our box top to best navigate those difficult times. Often His picture takes time to unfold. We want to give up. The waiting is a challenge. So when it feels too hard, we need to just work on a few ‘pieces’ at a time.
Often, God’s plan doesn’t come together on our timetable. Yet one truth we cling to: God’s purpose and plan for us is good because God is good. All the time, God is good. Work one piece at a time, cling to His goodness, and rest in His sovereignty.

Our series will be called "Church Matters." We are eager to spend April and May studying together some of the things that matter within the church so that we might continue to pursue the calling of God and rejoice that we get to be a part of His church.

Senior Pastor Call Committee

After much prayer and discussion, the Board of Elders has approved the Senior Pastor Call Committee roster to begin the divine call process of following God's direction to find the man He has already chosen as Timothy's next Senior Pastor.

While every effort was made to follow MO District President Hagan's recommendation to keep the committee from seven to nine members, a stronger consideration to provide a broad demographic representation brought the total to ten voting members with four additional members serving as non-voting advisors/consultants.
The voting committee members are Charlie Bock, Charlie Cronkhite, Sam Downs, Mel Falk, Rachel Honig, Tary Krahenbuhl, Kate Kuecker, Diane Mayfield, Rachel Pierce, and Tyler Shaffer. Non-voting committee advisors/consultants are Pastor Ryan, Pastor Rod, Nancy Nowiszewski, and Steve Schild. Circuit Pastor Gary Stolle will assist the committee as a representative from the MO District.

The next steps include an initial meeting of Timothy's Call Committee on April 23rd, followed by a meeting with President Hagan soon. Congregational input will be essential throughout the entire process. Updates about the call process can be found on the church website under the About Us link.  Please keep this process and the Call Committee in your prayers as we seek God's will to be done.
