First Reading: 1 Kings 8:22-30 Gospel Reading: Mark 2:1-12
Buildings serve the mission; the mission must never serve the building.
A building project creates genuine spiritual tension. On one side is the fear that a church may become preoccupied with bricks, appearance, comfort, or institutional prestige. Scripture is clear that the Most High cannot be contained by structures made with human hands. The Church is living stones built on Christ, not an address, a sanctuary, or a floor plan. A congregation can possess a beautiful building and still neglect the people God loves. The danger of constructing a monument to ourselves must be named honestly. On the other side is the temptation to pretend that physical space does not matter. In Mark 2, a crowded house becomes a barrier between a paralyzed man and Jesus. His friends respond with determined creativity because getting one person to Christ matters more than preserving a roof. Buildings do not save, but they can either create barriers or remove them. Classrooms can support Lutheran education. A sanctuary can gather people around Word and Sacrament. A fellowship area can welcome the lonely. Offices can support care. Youth rooms can form relationships. Accessible entrances can communicate dignity and hospitality. The central question is not, “How impressive can we make this?” nor merely, “How much space would make us comfortable?” The faithful question is, “How can every square foot serve the Gospel?” Timothy must hold building plans beneath its vision, values, and confession. The building is not the mission; it is a tool entrusted to the mission. We are not building to prove that Timothy has arrived. We are seeking to make room for Christ’s ministry among people who have not yet arrived.

Beginning Sunday, November 1, Timothy Lutheran and School will move to new Sunday morning worship times. This new schedule provides two opportunities to gather together in God’s Word, worship our Savior, and grow as a community of faith. New Sunday Worship Schedule · 9:00 AM | Contemporary Worship Service · 10:45 AM | Traditional Worship Service FaithRoots will be offered during the 9:00 AM worship service. Children dismissed in the middle of service. At Timothy, our vision is Transforming Lives Through Christ. Sunday worship is an important part of living out that vision. Each week, we have the opportunity to hear God’s Word, receive His gifts, encourage one another, and be strengthened to share the love of Christ with our families, neighbors, community, and world. As we begin this new Sunday schedule, we invite everyone to find a worship time that works for their family and make Sunday mornings a meaningful part of the week. We look forward to worshiping with you as we continue Transforming Lives Through Christ! |

On Wednesday, September 30, our Confirmation Students and their Prayer Pals gathered for a special “Meet & Serve” event filled with fellowship, service, and connection. The Prayer Pal program pairs an adult member of the congregation with a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student, helping our middle school youth build meaningful relationships with adult mentors in our Timothy congregation. For some pairs, this was their first opportunity to meet, while others enjoyed catching up and continuing to grow their friendship. During the evening, approximately 60 students and their Prayer Pals decorated colorful fall cards and packed 30 goody bags for Timothy’s homebound members. Thanks in part to a Thrivent Action Team grant, each bag was filled with special treats and a reminder that our homebound members are remembered, prayed for, and loved by their Timothy church family. Throughout October, our Homebound Care Ministers will deliver the bags during their visits, sharing the love and care of our congregation with those who are unable to regularly join us in person. What a wonderful way to bring generations together, strengthen relationships, serve our church family, and share the love of Christ with one another! |

Throughout the month of October, Timothy Lutheran Ministries will be collecting donations to support Hillcrest, a ministry dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome homelessness and build a stronger future through housing, education, and supportive services. To make giving easy, a donation cart will be available in the church lobby. Be sure to check the cart regularly for a list of Hillcrest's most needed items, as those needs may change throughout the month. Every donation, big or small, provides encouragement and practical assistance to those working toward stability and independence. As we remain Rooted in Christ (Colossians 2:6-7), we are blessed to share His love through acts of compassion and service. Thank you for your generosity and for partnering with Hillcrest to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. Together, we can be Christ's hands and feet in our community. |
