First Reading: Romans 12:1-2 Gospel Reading: John 15:1-8
People are surrounded by promises of transformation: a new routine, diet, app, purchase, building, program, or burst of determination will finally make life better. The problem is that external improvement cannot heal the sinner’s heart. Even in the Church, transformation can be reduced to “try harder,” “do more,” or “become the kind of person God can use.” That creates either pride when we think we are succeeding or despair when we know we are not. Paul begins Romans 12 not with pressure but with mercy. Christian transformation is first something God does to us and in us because of what Christ has already done for us. This is especially important as Timothy considers organizational growth and future facilities. A newer or larger building may change what we can do, but it cannot transform a life. A classroom cannot create faith. A sanctuary cannot forgive sin. A program cannot raise the spiritually dead. Christ alone transforms through His living Word and Sacraments. At the same time, Christ does not leave His people unchanged. Connected to Him as branches to the vine, we are renewed in mind, relationships, priorities, generosity, and mission. The creative tension is between cosmetic change and Gospel transformation: are we merely trying to improve the institution, or are we asking Christ to renew us so deeply that every plan, space, ministry, and decision becomes an expression of His mercy? |

The Timmy Burger booth is just three weeks away, and we're excited to celebrate with our church and school community! To make this event a success, we still need volunteers to fill a variety of shifts.
We especially need helping hands for setup on Thursday evening and teardown on Sunday. If you can spare a little time, your support would be greatly appreciated. Every volunteer plays an important role in making the Fall Fun Fest a fun and welcoming event for everyone.

Each 30-35 minute live will offer a conversational, practical look at God’s Word and how it speaks into everyday life. Our first journey will take us through the Psalms — the Bible’s prayer book for every season of life. Ladies, are you looking for an opportunity to visit with other sisters in Christ during the day? All Timothy ladies and their friends are invited to the LWML Ruth Circle gatherings on the second Thursdays (Sept. thru May) at 10 am at Pointe of Hope Coffee Shop. We joyfully proclaim Christ as Lord, support missions near and far, and serve others. There's always food--(sometimes light breakfast, other times lunch or potluck), fellowship, and fun! Choir Begins on Tuesday September 8th Join US. Music enhances our worship, and you are invited to join us in choir. Timothy Choir is scheduled to begin on Tuesday September 8th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. in the music room. At the 7 pm hour we will introduce this year’s cantata by Marty Parks, “A Song, a Son, a Savior” schedule to be presented on Sunday December 13th. Kathy Wilbers and her husband, Louie, have been members of Timothy Lutheran Church for more than 30 years. She is active in choir, Bible study, and serves on the Timmy Burger committee. Kathy is a retired high school math and ACT Prep teacher with 31 years of classroom experience. Throughout her career, she was involved in teacher leadership, new‑teacher mentoring, coaching, and supporting a wide range of extracurricular activities. Kathy and Louie have adult children—Matt, Zach and Lena, Kelsey and Alex—and are proud grandparents of two boys who attend Timothy Lutheran School. |

Danielle Coverdell lives in Blue Springs and serves on the Timothy Lutheran School board, where her children have attended for four years. Professionally, she is a Materials Scientist at Honeywell FM&T with nearly 20 years of industry experience, bringing strong analytical, data-driven problem solving, and strategic planning skills to the board. Deeply committed to service, Danielle is a member of and volunteers at Abundant Life Church. She additionally advocates for the deaf and hard of hearing community through Children’s Mercy Hospital (POPS), Families First, and Missouri First Steps. She holds a BA from William Jewell College and an MS from UMKC. In all areas of life, she is guided by Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" |

Join us for Oasis on September 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium for an evening of dinner, activities, fellowship, and time spent in God's Word.
Our September theme is "God Calls Us", based on 1 Samuel 3:1-14. In this Scripture, we hear the story of young Samuel, who was confused when God called him three times. Samuel did not yet recognize God's voice or understand the message God was giving him. Like Samuel, we can sometimes wonder if God is speaking to us or what He wants us to hear.
The good news is that we can be confident that God has called us. Through Holy Baptism, God has claimed us as His own children. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, He continues to guide, strengthen, and speak through His Word and through our lives.
Come and explore this important message with us as we gather for faith, fun, and fellowship. We look forward to seeing you there! 😊 |
