Humans have a hard time with the unknown. Sure, there are those who are willing to head off into the wild areas of the world and see what crazy new things are out there, but a lot of us don’t like to venture out of our comfort zones. We like things the way they are. We like to stay where we know the lay of the land. But God calls us forward in faith, to do and experience what’s new for Him. It’s a call to leave our comfort zones behind and see what incredible things God will do to and through and for us.
A Life That Stands No Matter the Storms: A Devotion
In Matthew 7, Jesus tells the story of the wise and foolish builders, a story I’ve loved since I was a little girl: Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Matthew 7:24-27
Similar to a house, the life of faith will face storms. If someone performed a home inspection on our lives, what would they say about the foundation of it? As much as we want to believe our foundation would prove sound, any one of the following could be said to be our foundation:
A happy marriage
Whole and healthy children
Ministry and service
Hard work and determination
Financial security
Being a “good person”
Although the list might seem good at first glance, none are meant to be a foundation of a life. Every single one is sand, not the Savior. And if my life is built on these things, if my sense of security and hope is wrapped up in marriage, children, my own hard work, and a daily sense of happiness, all it will take is a storm in one area to take down the whole thing.
We have a foundation bigger and stronger. And the good news is there is no Rock like our God.

What stories are worth telling over and over? That’s a worthy question today as we encounter a familiar story from the Scriptures. It’s the story of the Prodigal son or sons. It’s a sad encounter where the two sons of the father take completely different courses in life but in many ways end up making the same mistake; that is, they’ve forgotten who their father is. We, too, will wrestle with that reality as we see the richness of this story and the value of hearing it again and again. So come and listen.
Scars Tell the Story: A Devotion
We’ve all walked roads that have battered and bruised us deeply. We each carry scars. I’m learning that scars tell the stories of battles fought and won, of fears conquered, dreams chased, and of Jesus meeting us in the dry valleys.
Our scars tell our story, and although we are more than our past, more than what we have experienced, every moment has been used to shape us into a new creation, holy and blameless in the eyes of Him who sees our scars.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Cor. 5: 16-17
We have been given the task of telling everyone what God is up to in our lives. He has given us a story to live and scars to wear. Jesus calls us to speak from those places and glorify Him with each scar, daring to say He is beautiful and true, loving and kind, no matter what.

In the Bible, we often see fruit trees being used for metaphors for living out our faith. Does our living produce good fruit or doesn’t it? Far too often, we’re like the fig tree in today’s parable. God hopes we will produce good fruit in keeping with our faith, but far too often, we don’t. But thankfully, He is a God of second, third, fourth, fifth chances. He feeds our faith through Word and Sacrament and gives us time to live out our faith. May we produce a harvest in keeping with His hopes and expectations!
Create in Me a Heart of Hope: A Devotion
Nobody calls in the middle of the night with good news. My normally innocent ringtone turned ominous the moment it breaks the silence. My friend apologized for calling in the middle of the night, and while I could identify with parts of her story, I’d never walked in her exact shoes. Holding my phone with one hand, I silently asked the One who has the answers.
What does she do now, God? How can I help her?
That was when my friend asked me a different question. She asked me if it would all work out. And, finally, I had something I could hold on to and then offer back to her. Yes! I told her. Eventually, everything would work out. Because God promises in Romans 8:28, “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Someday, I assured her, she would realize that she has healed, grown, moved on enough to feel okay again. In that moment, we both felt a glimmer of hope, and it was enough.
God is with the brokenhearted. He will never leave us. Never. He will fight for us, and He will win. Without hope, we are lost. With hope, we can withstand the storm and keep pressing forward. We can face every middle-of-the-night phone call and every circumstance that knocks the wind right out of us. With hope, the hope we find in the promise of Jesus, we know someday is coming.

Timothy’s Tithe Organizations Appreciate Support
Thank you, Timothy, for continuing to support the mission field through your general contributions each week. 10% of general contributions is faithfully and regularly apportioned to those organizations on Timothy’s tithe list. Below are recent acknowledgements and thank-you(s) from a couple of those organizations:
From Lutherans for Life: “Please receive our gratitude for your recent gift of $167.32. Your fellowship and encouragement affirm that life issues involve real people, precious treasures, and not simply political controversy or personal choice.”
Hillcrest Transitional Housing: For more than 40 years, Hillcrest has helped families get back on their feet. Your recent gift of $836.62 helps to enable us to provide homeless individuals, families, and youth with the skills and tools they need to lead self-sufficient lives and to leave behind the cycle of homelessness forever.”
Timothy’s Tithe Organizations Appreciate Support
Thank you, Timothy, for your special committed support of sponsoring a Hillcrest apartment in Lee’s Summit. The Hillcrest personnel shared that information about new residents in Timothy’s apartment should be available within a few days. Stay tuned! And don’t stop praying!

If you hear the term “holy destruction,” what do you picture? Probably something worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. But who do you picture as the target of that holy destruction? Usually someone else. We often forget that our sins make us targets for that holy destruction too. But thanks be to God, He saves us from His own wrath through Jesus’ death and resurrection. He now calls on us, to share the message that others can be saved from that destruction as well.
SNOW: A Devotion
Can you believe it. I am a sunshine girl, a get outside and feel the warmth on my face kind of girl. I dream of Florida, Jamaica and the Bahama’s. But last night was sleet and this week more snow. What a crazy state Missouri is.
Our location matters and there is good to be found right where we’re at, even with the crazy weather. I think about how Jesus came down from heaven to dwell in a specific location, within a specific community. He did His work locally, as far as His feet and a boat could take Him. He focused on the people right around Him, healing, preaching, and walking with them. And yet, what happened there changed the world.
Yes, God is in the far-off places, but God is everywhere — even here. He is alive and moving. He is right here in snowy Missouri. As I sit, I think of a song from childhood based on King James Psalm 144:15. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord. Psalm 144:15
As I look out at the cold snow, I am happy, at peace in the quiet sitting with God, right where I am at.

In Romans, Paul calls on Christians to “confess and believe.” But what does that mean? It seems so easy, but the problem that we often get caught in is that we only do this halfway. We kind of confess through our words and actions that we belong to God. Our faith is anemic and weak and doesn’t stand up to trials. But thanks be to God, He is the one who gives us saving faith and enables us to confess through word and action that we belong to Him!
We Are Many but One Humanity: A Devotion
This morning, Good Morning America shared that Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president and the man now seen around the world as the face of brave resistance against Russian aggression, had voice Paddington Bear in Ukranian version of the hit 2014 animated film. What does that do to his image, man and Paddington Bear? It is hard to align the two images.
Sometimes, I feel divided, too: the woman walking around in this world, dealing with the challenges of drivers cutting me off and too many obligations with the woman of faith reflecting God to the world.
In Romans 12, Paul reminds us to avoid aligning with ideas and practices that are not a reflection of God. He wrote, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12: 2 NIV). Paul encourages us to renew our minds so that we can align with God’s will—to see as God sees. In that same chapter, he illustrates how we are parts of one body, though we are individuals—“each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12: 5). Paul then implies, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves” (Romans 12: 10).
As our minds are renewed, a glorious vision for humanity is restored. I am encouraged that the world is
filled with one human race, with one goal to be transformed and to illuminate the world with God’s love.

When Jesus calls us to love God with everything, that makes us uncomfortable. We’re not willing to do “all.” We’re willing to do “some.” Or “over half.” Or “most.” But “all?” That’s too much. But that’s the deal with our all-or-nothing loving God. He wants all of us. And so we serve God by serving each other with our all. With our time, talents, and treasures. With our whole hearts and minds and soul and bodies. With all that we are and have. That way, we live out our faith and live out our love. Timothy celebrates First Fruits Sunday this weekend in worship. We look forward to “loving with everything” with this special offering, returning to God our “first fruits” because He will bless us abundantly this year as He always has in the past.
Showing Up Brings Great Joy: A Devotion
Recently, I attended a musical performance for one of our high school students to support her. She was overwhelmed that people came to cheer for her. I began to ponder why we can sometimes feel unworthy of someone championing us. Why are we amazed that someone, especially our church family, would show up for us?
Society has us believing that we must be individualistic, but our role in each other’s lives as seen in Scripture is for us to be brothers and sisters in Christ. We are family in the most important ways, and families are intimately involved with one another. In my Bible, the heading title before Romans 12: 9-21 says, “Behave Like a Christian.” Those verses talk about love in action, and that’s exactly what it means to be a believer in Christ. We get to speak hope into each other’s sorrows and grief. We speak words of encouragement. We also get to delight in the ways that God blesses others. We celebrate. We cheer.
Appreciation from Resource Health
Timothy recently received the following thank-you note from Resource Health (formerly Rachel House). Their stated mission is “to offer compassionate care to men and women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Our focus is to holistically empower the family unit through advocacy, education, mentoring and discipleship. Our goal is to positively impact families now and for generations to come.”
Dear Timothy Lutheran Church,
Thank you for your continued support of Resource Health. We are excited to see what God does in 2022! We are expanding our locations, and we have kicked off our Fatherhood program with a director who leads four male advocates at each location. We believe fathers matter! To God Be the Glory!
Rejoicing in Christ,
China Arbuckle

As we continue to talk about love, we expand our focus to how we love one another. Because God loves us, we love Him. And more than that, we love each other. God’s love for us prompts us to love one another. We remember that God’s love is to flow from us to others, with no boundaries or borders or exceptions.
A Love Beyond the Pink and Red Hearts: A Devotion
I am writing this on Valentine’s Day and looking forward to an evening with my husband. Valentine’s Day can stir up so many memories, both good and bad, hopeful and disappointing, meaningful and forgettable. In reality, no human can fill the love gap in our hearts. All of us are broken, with imperfections, flaws, and shortcomings. But the One who can truly fill us, the One who has always wanted us, is God.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1
Friends, we belong to Love Himself. Delight and rejoice today in the truth that we are fully, unconditionally, and eternally loved by a man—by a God—who gave His life for us. What we have longed for all along, we already have in Him.
Timothy’s Hillcrest Apartment Resident Update
Residents April and her son Hunter are ready to move and so appreciate the opportunity to have lived in the Timothy-sponsored apartment at Hillcrest. Her successful transition to a home of her own will occur within a few days once the inspection of her new Section 8 home is complete.
Timothy members Fran & Kay Lieb recently provided a $250 Thrivent Action Team donation to help April stock her cabinets and drawers in her own home. Pictured are some of the items bought when the Liebs and April went shopping. Thank you, Fran and Kay, for showing the love of Jesus to April and Hunter!
We praise God for Timothy’s commitment to helping families “get back on their feet” by sponsoring a Hillcrest Transitional Housing apartment. If you are interested in joining Timothy’s Hillcrest Team, please contact Dan Sbisa at dan.sbisa@gmail.com.
LWML Ash Wednesday Ham Dinner, 5-7pm, Family Life Center, RD Mize; proceeds to mites (10%), National Youth Gathering fundraising (45%), and 2022 Live Well Community Fair (45%)
Lenten Non-Dinner Free-Will Offering opportunities:
March 9: Timmy Boys for CrossWalk program in Children’s Ministry
March 16: Give Commission for 2022 Live Well Community Fair
March 23: Pairs & Spares for National Youth Gathering fundraising
March 30: School Ministry for TLS Scholarship Fund
The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. During this season of sorrowful reflection, it is particularly appropriate that we ponder God’s Word as we consider all that our Lord Jesus does for us in his life, suffering, death, and burial.
Our current life of social distancing, masks, and isolation has been challenging in numerous ways. It is an ever-present reminder that we live in a fallen state with God. Distance from others reminds us of the importance of relationship and community. We are sustained by the faithful presence of God for us even as we journey through challenging paths.
So that we might grow together, we invite you to join us this Lent to read and reflect as we take the LENT JOURNEY. A daily reading devotional reflection will be posted. As you reflect, we pray that you draw nearer to God by connecting with Him, sustaining and strengthening in faith while walking with Jesus. You may also share comments and thoughts as we take the Lent Journey in fellowship with one another.
If you would like to receive a daily email containing the devotion, you can subscribe to Timothy’s email list dedicated solely to these Lenten devotions at www.timothylutheran.com/godconnect-devotions
Blessings as we prepare for the season of Lent.
Pastor Rod Lindemann
National Youth Gathering Pi Day
Thank you, Timothy, for your generous support of Timothy’s youth on their way to Houston in July for the 2022 National Youth Gathering. Last week’s BBQ ribs fundraiser sold 120 slabs of yummy ribs for a profit of approximately $1,500. Thank you!
As announced in worship services last Sunday, another opportunity, Adopt-a-NYG, has started. It’s simple: make a donation to Timothy earmarked as “Adopt-a-NYG” before Pi day (that’s March 14). For every $1,000 in donations, one of the youth attending the NYG will get hit in the face with a whipped cream pie. If initial goal ($15,000) reaches $20,000, special “pie targets” will join the pie-in-the-face line-up. The pie-throwing event will be videotaped and shared on Timothy’s Facebook page and elsewhere. Thank you for your generosity in supporting all NYG fundraisers!
Next Generation Update
The Phase 1 program approved at the Jan. 16 Special Voters’ Assembly Meeting is moving forward with plans to Transform Lives through Christ through expansion of ministries and facilities. Leadership is monitoring the budget stabilizing process and will provide specific data at the end of the first quarter. In the meantime, we praise God that general contributions for January 2022 were $20,000 greater than general contributions for January 2021. Thank you!
The February sermon series reminds us that God wants our all for His glory. We serve God by serving each other with our time, talents, and treasures as well as our whole hearts, minds, soul, and bodies. With all that we are and have, we live out our faith and live out our love for Him. Thank you to all who volunteer their time and talents in Timothy’s ministries and those who have already made contributions to the 2022 First Fruits goal of $200,000. We look forward to First Fruits Sunday on Feb. 27th. Thank you!
Since the Feb. 6 Special Voters’ Assembly meeting, leaders have solicited and received bids for the approved mobile units and civil engineering services. Upon review of the bids, contracts for both will be awarded within a few days. The Wyatt Campus acreage is generating interest as senior adult housing.
At its monthly meeting this week, the Executive Board launched the Raise the (Storage) Roof opportunity in accordance with the Phase 1 Program steps and dependency factors in moving forward, as approved at the Jan. 16 Special Voters’ Assembly Meeting. Timothy praises God for a very generous donor’s commitment to fund the trailer project, and the board is currently researching options for constructing the storage outbuilding by June for much-needed storage not currently available at Wyatt and necessary before Voters are asked to approve the sale of the RD Mize Campus. The board appreciates the congregation’s prayerful and financial support. Donors can contribute to Raise the Roof on the church website or placing in offering plate with envelopes clearly marked “Raise the Roof.” Leadership looks forward to providing frequent updates regarding all of the Next Generation details.
These are busy, exciting times at Timothy as we discern God’s will for moving forward in ways to transform more lives through Christ. Thank you for your support!
Girls in grades 3-5 (can also include energetic 2nd graders)
Girls in grades 6-8

Sandy Gregory will be lead coordinator for Timothy’s site. To offer this program to Timothy’s girls and their friends, assistant coaches are necessary. Please contact Sandy by March 1 if interested in assisting as a coach. If enough coaches sign up, creative supervision scheduling is probable. Coaches do not need to be “runners”; walking coaches are also welcome! This program participates in programs for senior high students accumulating community service hours. Contact Sandy Gregory in church office (816.228.5300 Ext. 8035), by email at sandyg@timothylutheran.com, or via text at 816.213.8237 to volunteer as assistant coach or ask questions.

We continue our look at God’s love this month by reminding ourselves that we are called on to love the Lord. This is done, not because we’re trying to win God’s heart or to form a relationship with Him, but because He has already brought us into a relationship with Him through Christ. So He calls us to respond to His love with love of our own. We love God and remember what He’s done for us, loving Him before all other things.
We Can All Bring Soup: A Devotion
What is it about Soup? Chopping ingredients, simmering them on the stove, and then sharing the soup with someone you love. For years, I have been the person who has had grand intentions. I want to be that person who will do whatever they need, whenever they need it. But more times than I’d like to remember, my grand plans turned into good intentions that never saw reality.
Sometimes, when life is at its hardest, we can’t manage a grandiose gesture. But most of the time, we can all bring soup. Of course, your soup may look different than mine. For some, it’s fixing a computer, cleaning a house, or raking leaves. In James 2:15-17, we are not asked to take on all of another’s burden but to meet the needs we see in front of us.
If a brother or sister is poorly clothes and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
We all have something we can give that will not necessarily fix someone else’s life situation but will still yield valuable results. When we present a humble offering, we give something practical and immediate. It’s just a simple gesture that goes a long way to bless someone and ease their struggle.
Timothy Cares for You
It is a blessing to greet more and more of our Timothy family and friends in worship services again. Timothy’s staff and leadership cannot stress enough the importance of noting your worship attendance to help connect with members and meet their spiritual and fellowship needs.
Starting this Sunday, Feb. 13, worshippers can “check in” to worship using the Timothy Church app on their phones! There will be a brief video during announcements at each campus to explain this quick & easy feature, and it is also posted on the church website for your convenience.
When you arrive at church, go to the Timothy app on your phone and choose “Giving.” Then click on the “Special” tab where you will see a picture and the words “Click Here to Check In”. After clicking on that message, you will see “Attendee 1.” First and last names are required, but the email field is optional. Below that is another button to “Add Another Attendee” which can be used as many times as necessary to check in your family attending that service. Below that you will also see an option to “Donate” where you can easily contribute to Timothy’s various ministries.
Worshippers may also continue to complete the attendance cards/slips as always and use the offering envelopes to place in offering plate. Prayer requests may also be written on the attendance cards/slips as always and placed in offering plate. Please use either method of registering your attendance each Sunday you are in worship. Thank you!
Please contact church office (816.228.5300) if you need assistance installing the church app on your phone.
You can also now access Timothy’s membership directory on the app. Click on “People.” If you are a member of any of Timothy’s “groups,” that will pop up. Click on “Directory” to locate the alphabetized church membership directory. To exit the directory or any of the other app features, click on the 4-square image in upper right corner.

God Is Love
February holds Valentine’s Day right in the middle of it, so it’s a good time for us to turn our minds to love. People are already thinking about it, so it’s good for us to remember what the source and standard for love is. It’s not found in a Hollywood romcom. It’s not found in a Hallmark card. Instead, the source and standard is God, who loves us with an impossible, incredible love, one that prompted Jesus’ death and resurrection. We love because God is love.
You Are Beautiful: A Devotion
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. I Peter 3:4
I was in that place where women go to get their cut and colored, to cover the roots and dye the grays. A woman came and sat in the empty chair next to me. She mumbled, “Her hair is so nice. And just look at her over there—all you ladies are so beautiful, just beautiful.”
Here were these women gathered together, all bearing bare faces and bare beauty. It’s where they sit, vulnerable, at the hands of another. It’s where they expose the true texture of their hair—all the thickness and the thinning out, all the bald spots and every ringlet that’s been called bad. I smiled looking around at all the other women. In my mind, I heard: Everyone here has beautiful hair. Everyone here is just beautiful . . .
God looks at each one of us and sees and loves everything about us—the width of our hips, the height of our body, the texture of our hair. God cannot help but stand and point and shout and tell us that we are beautiful. We do not have to primp and perfect ourselves to be accepted and loved by God. We can come and sit, with all our color and culture, all our hair texture and taste in style that makes us who we are. Without looking around to compare, without looking around to compete, we can come and be. Just beautiful.
Scout Sunday
Timothy’s Cub Pack 175 and Scout Troop 175 will be recognized at the 10am Wyatt service THIS SUNDAY, Feb. 6. We thank Timothy members Tary Krahenbuhl, Scott & Carter Honig, and Gary & Dalton Bodenhausen for participating in the worship service.
Lenten Season Updates
There will be 2 worship services (with Holy Communion) at RD Mize (4pm & 6:30pm) on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd. Timothy’s LWML will serve the traditional Ham Dinner in the Family Life Center between the services.
The Wednesday Lenten services on March 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6 will occur at 5:30pm at RD Mize (one service only). There will be no in-person Lenten Dinners on those dates. Instead, the Lenten Non-Dinner Free-Will Offering format will be offered again, patterning this success after last year’s efforts. Each week, a different ministry group at Timothy will “host” these “non-dinners” by greeting worshippers and accepting donations for the group’s designated ministry each at a table in the RD Mize lobby.
Please contact Diane Mayfield (dianem@timothylutheran.com) if your ministry would like to reserve a table on March 23, 30, or April 6 for the congregation to support your specified fund with free-will offerings. The table can also be available for worshippers on the Sunday following the Wednesday Lenten service. The “Timmy Boys” will host the free-will offering on March 9, and the GIVE Commission will host the free-will offering on March 16, with donations earmarked for expenses regarding the 2022 Live Well Community Event in June.

Christ was all things to the Apostle Paul, and Paul shares his confession and prayer with the church at Colossae. This is a fitting theme for National Lutheran Schools Week because Lutheran schools praise and share Christ in the sanctuary, classroom, playground, athletic court, stage, faculty lounge, office, and in every place where God’s children gather. That’s good for us to remember, too. We are called to see Christ in all things, in every part of our lives.
“2022 Is a Second Chance”
Something about a second chance. It’s almost overwhelming how grateful I am for a second (or third or twenty-third or I’ve-lost-count) chance. And I’m not just talking about a day to out a calendar or to-do list. Those things are great, but the second chances that fill me with wonder and move me to on-my-knees gratitude are the ones we get from God Himself.
Our God is a God of second chances. He’s the One who gave do-overs to Adam and Eve, Moses, David and so many more. He’s the One who urges us to give one another second chances by forgiving one another, and most importantly, He’s the One who took the punishment for our sins so we can spend eternity with Him—the ultimate second chance!
When we are afraid that we’ve missed our chance, that we’ve messed up too much, that we’ve waited too long, know that God will never give up. He is here to give us that second chance and Hi9s mercies are never-ending.
Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations: 3:21-23
Appreciative Mission Agencies
Thank you, Timothy, for so generously supporting Lutheran Urban Mission Agency (LUMA) and Lutheran Urban Mission Agency Auxiliary (LUMAA). Recently, LUMA acknowledged our faithful gifts totaling $3,399.08 in 2021 which supported the agency’s grants to five churches (Timothy being one of them for the 2021 Live Well Community Event) to engage their parish communities, served 1,179 people at their food pantry, supplied 19,600 diapers and 2,800 pull-ups through the Happy Bottoms program, supplied undergarments, socks & t-shirts to 42 children, and the list goes on.
Timothy collected over 1,000 school supply items, $190 in monetary donations, and 26 baby receiving blankets this month for the LUMAA in-gathering. When there’s a need, Timothy responds, always has, always will. Thank you!
Timothy Supports Haiti
Pastor Rod reports that Pastor Chad Starfeldt from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greeville, WI, sends the following message: “Thank you sooo much for all the support of Haiti and First Lutheran Church in Jacmel. As you may know, it is very bad in Haiti right now. The prices are rising like crazy for people who are already poor. There are gangs and kidnappings. We praise the Lord that the 17 missionaries got out of captivity from the gangs safely. Your support continues to help Pastor Markey and First Lutheran in Jacmel finish their sanctuary and support their ministry.
