First Reading: Hebrews 10:19-25 Gospel Reading: Matthew 18:15-20
Modern life makes isolation easy and gathering difficult. People can be constantly connected through screens while remaining deeply alone. Families are overscheduled, weekends are crowded, and worship can be approached as one option among many. Even when a sanctuary is full, individuals may still wonder whether anyone knows them, would miss them, or would walk with them through hardship. The Church must resist two errors: treating attendance as the goal, and treating gathering as optional. Hebrews points beyond both. We draw near because Jesus opened the way by His blood; we hold fast because He is faithful; and we encourage one another because faith was never meant to be lived in isolation. As Timothy considers the need for more room, the congregation must ask what kind of gathering its spaces are meant to serve. We do not simply need more places to put people. We need places where Christ’s people receive His Word and Sacrament, where children and adults are known, where burdens are shared, where reconciliation is practiced, and where strangers become brothers and sisters. A larger room can hold a crowd, but only Christ creates communion. The tension is therefore between counting bodies and cultivating belonging, between convenience and commitment, and between a building full of people and a people gathered around Jesus. |

The Timmy Burger booth is just three weeks away, and we're excited to celebrate with our church and school community! To make this event a success, we still need volunteers to fill a variety of shifts.
We especially need helping hands for setup on Thursday evening and teardown on Sunday. If you can spare a little time, your support would be greatly appreciated. Every volunteer plays an important role in making the Fall Fun Fest a fun and welcoming event for everyone.

Do you have a heart for children and a few hours to spare during the week? We are currently seeking nursery volunteers for weeknight events and Sunday mornings. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and willing to provide a safe, caring environment for our little ones while parents attend church programs and small groups. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our church family and make a meaningful difference — even just one evening a month can help! | Beginning in September, take a break from the busyness of the week and spend your Friday lunch with Pastor Kendall! Each 30-35 minute live will offer a conversational, practical look at God’s Word and how it speaks into everyday life. Our first journey will take us through the Psalms — the Bible’s prayer book for every season of life. Choir Begins on Tuesday September 8th Join US. Music enhances our worship, and you are invited to join us in choir. Timothy Choir is scheduled to begin on Tuesday September 8th from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. in the music room. At the 7 pm hour we will introduce this year’s cantata by Marty Parks, “A Song, a Son, a Savior” schedule to be presented on Sunday December 13th. A few months ago, we invited volunteers to help with this ministry, but unfortunately, we did not receive any responses. We are reaching out again because we truly need additional help if we are to continue providing these meaningful gifts to our newest members. The good news is that you do not need to be an expert woodworker to get involved. The member who currently builds these chests is willing to teach and mentor someone who would like to learn the process. If you have basic woodworking tools and a willingness to serve, this could be a wonderful opportunity to use your gifts to bless young families in our congregation. This ministry has been a treasured part of welcoming children into God's family, but it cannot continue without additional volunteers. We are at a point where we need others to step forward and learn this process so that future baptized children can continue receiving these special gifts. If you are interested in helping, having questions, or would like to learn more about what is involved, please reach out. We'd love to connect with you and show you how you can be a part of this meaningful ministry. The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) invites you to participate in LUMAA's September meeting at Peace Lutheran Church, KCMO, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Registration begins at 9am with the Opening Service scheduled for 9:30am. If you are not a member of LWML but would like to attend the meeting and see what many activities the group performs in the Metro Kansas City area, you are welcome to join us. The Program presentation will be given by Carla Hamilton, Director of Grow in Peace Day Care, with songs by children attending the daycare. If you would like to stay for lunch after the meeting, please contact Lois Kuecker at 816-868-5500, by Sunday, September 13, so reservations can be made. Family-sized hygiene products and cleaning supplies (e.g., paper towels, TP, laundry soap, dish or bar soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes) are the items chosen to be collected in September and given to struggling families. A collection container is available in our church lobby to hold donated items. All Timothy members are welcome to assist in this drive. |

Throughout the month of September, Timothy Lutheran Church and School will be collecting donations for the Community Services League. We invite all members and friends of our congregation to participate by donating needed items to support individuals and families in our community.

Timothy's current Hillcrest Transitional Housing resident was involved in a car accident a few weeks ago, and her vehicle was totaled. While she carried liability insurance, she now faces the challenge of finding reliable transportation with a budget of approximately $2,500. This resident has worked hard during her time in the program and is expected to graduate in about a month. Her employer speaks highly of her, describing her as a wonderful teacher in a two-year-old classroom. She has shown dedication, responsibility, and a commitment to building a stable future. We are reaching out to see if anyone knows of a reliable vehicle available within her price range or if someone would be willing to donate a vehicle. If you have information about a vehicle that may be a good fit, or if you would like to discuss donating a car, please contact Sandy at the church office.
