On Mission with Jesus

The Book of Acts details the early church's dynamic growth, showcasing ordinary people doing extraordinary things through the Holy Spirit. Over 13 weeks, we'll see the birth of a movement that reshaped the world.

Acts offers more than history; it reflects the Spirit's ongoing work within the church. We'll examine how early  believers faced challenges, built community, and boldly shared the gospel—experiences relevant to us today.

With a dedicated reading plan, we’ll explore the stories of Peter, Paul, and others, learning how the Holy Spirit empowered them and how He can empower us. We’ll find practical ways to apply these lessons to our lives and become effective witnesses for Christ.

Follow along with our sermon series and weekly Prepare for Worship emails for reading assignments. Let’s be inspired by the early church's courage and faith and ignite a fresh wave of God’s Kingdom.

This week’s reading: Chapters 12-13.

Unstoppable

Unstoppable forces meet immovable objects - that's often how it feels when we're on mission for Christ. Challenges arise, setbacks occur, and it can seem like the world is conspiring against us. But what happens when everything appears to be falling apart? Does the mission end? Or does it ignite a deeper fire within us? Let's explore together how to persevere through adversity, finding strength and purpose in the face of overwhelming odds. Join us as we discover the resilience of the Church and the unwavering power of God's kingdom. Are you ready to defy expectations and experience the triumph of faith?

Celebrating Generosity at Timothy

God has done (and continues to do) marvelous things at Timothy! He guides His people through important ministries as we celebrate worshiping and serving under one roof, perhaps none greater than walking alongside Timothy’s senior pastor call process. OASIS, the Wednesday evening children and family ministry program, offers children, teens, and parents the opportunity to grow in their faith. Timothy Lutheran School continues to provide a strong Christian presence for children and their families. “The Center,” a new young adult ministry at Timothy, is in its formative stages. LWML, Women of Hope, and JourneyMen continue to reach many longing to embrace and deepen their relationship with Jesus and other Christians. An additional Sunday morning Adult Bible Class starts on October 6 as another opportunity to dig into God’s Word. Timothy’s Discovery Class is once again active in bringing in new members. While the transition to one campus has affected us all, God sends the Holy Spirit to remind us that our generosity towards others will refresh us!

This fall, Timothy’s GIVE Commission will promote a generosity emphasis to educate the congregation about the financial resources needed to transform lives through Christ through its thriving ministries. While time and talents are equally important, our treasures (finances) are also necessary to support bringing us and the unchurched closer to Christ. More to follow soon. Please prayerfully consider how your generosity can impact Timothy’s mission of transforming lives through Christ in 2025 and beyond.

Opportunity to Serve

Four years ago, Timothy's Next Generation Task Force Teams studied several aspects of consolidating to one campus. Timothy's Executive Board seeks to reconvene one of these task forces, Construction Task Force (aka "Building Committee"), to study the feasibility of Timothy's current expansion plan. The original task force members willing to continue in this service are Gary Flandermeyer, Louie Wilbers, Tyler Shaffer, and Gary Williams. If you would like to join this current task force and/or have questions, please contact Diane Mayfield (dianem@timothylutheran.com) by October 20. Thank you!
Call Committee Update

Timothy's Call Committee continues through the call process. Round one interviews are complete, with second round interviews to be scheduled during the first three weeks of October, depending upon candidates' availability. Due to circumstances we also have a pastor who was just able to schedule his first interview. This will be scheduled in such a way that it will not slow down our process as we will continue with second interviews. Please continue to keep this divine call process in your prayers as we discern God's Will in finding the man He has already chosen as Timothy's next senior pastor.

Servant Leadership at Timothy

All Commissions also welcome volunteers to serve as commission members. Please reach out to Ben Ryan (816.365.6306), Kim Compton (816.729.7758), or Diane Mayfield (816.898.8772) before Oct. 20th with nominations or to ask questions about responsibilities (feel free to nominate yourself!) No prior experience required; just the willingness to serve as we prayerfully move forward with amazing ministries to transform lives through Christ!
