As We Gather for Worship This Weekend
Take 10: Conversations”

Sometimes the hardest thing we can do is come alongside a family member, a friend, or a neighbor and talk about their faith. It becomes even harder when those conversations happen with someone who isn’t a Christian. But God calls us to those conversations so that we can ultimately point people back to Jesus and what He can do for them.

Devotion: “Your Treasure Is Meant to Be Shared”

On Good Morning America they were talking about found money. There were people rejoicing over $100 like a treasure that had been lost and was found. It made me smile as I watched them hoot and holler. (They were in Texas)

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Mathew 6:20-21

We carry within us the greatest Love — One who died so we could live, One that compels us to die to ourselves so others can also live. This Love is the strength that carries us when we don’t think we can go another step. He’s the path that shows us where to go when nothing makes sense. God lives within us, and He wants to show Himself to those around us, to the world, through our imperfectness, so others can see Him clearly. His treasure of His love is meant to be shared.

OASIS Family Night

The next OASIS family night will be Oct. 11th. This new program is offered as an alternative to CrossWalk classes so that families can gather together for a free, catered meal from 6-6:30pm in the Family Life Center and then break out into separate education and fellowship activities for both students and parents. Resources will be provided for family devotions at home on the other Wednesdays of each month. Please contact Pastor Ryan (816.228.5300 Ext. 8046) or Clancy Heisel (816.228.5300 Ext 8047) with questions. RSVP’s are requested to help in planning the catered meal. Thank you!

Free Financial Presentations

Are you interested in learning more about “Estate Planning and Role of Executor”? Make plans to attend a free overview of these topics on Sunday, Oct. 8, after each service. Timothy member and Financial Advisor Christy Yager will share valuable information to consider when researching these important topics.

The presentation at RD Mize will be in the Fellowship Hall, and the presentation at Wyatt will be the Music Room. Childcare will be available. Contact Dave Domsch (816.809.5839) with questions.

Called Staff Appreciation Month

The month of October is traditionally celebrated as Clergy Appreciation Month. For many years, Timothy has included all of its called (rostered) employees in this special recognition. In addition to Pastors John and Ryan, TLS teachers Kim Brunkhorst, Beckie Hatcher, Jill Otte, and Mary Beth Self are rostered with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

We praise and thank God for all of Timothy’s staff! Members are encouraged to keep all Timothy staff in your prayers and extend words of thanksgiving, encouragement, and appreciation as you have opportunity. There are some simple “thank-you” note cards at each Information Center if you care to pick one up for a special note to someone.

Christmas Giving Trees

Now is the time to start thinking of families who may need some extra assistance at Christmas. If you know of an individual or family from our congregation or school who would be a candidate for our Giving Tree ministry, please submit their name(s), address and phone number in a sealed envelope and place in Sandy Gregory’s mailbox in the RD Mize Communication Center or contact her at 816.228.5300 (8042). Deadline to submit names is October 30 for the team to coordinate all necessary steps for a successful 2023 Giving Tree ministry.

A Giving Tree will be displayed at each campus starting Wed., Nov. 22nd, for members to choose tags and return the suggested gifts on Sunday, Dec. 10th, for Timothy’s annual Journey to the Manger. Gifts will be distributed to families suggested by Timothy members, Community Services League, Immanuel Lutheran in KC, and Our Redeemer in KC. Thank you for your generous support in the past. We look forward to this year’s gifts of love.

Next Generation Task Force

Timothy’s leadership will host a Town Hall on Sunday, Oct. 22, in the Wyatt auditorium immediately after the 10am service, to share consolidation progress and answer questions.  Look for a postcard in the mail soon. Please plan to attend!

On Monday, September 25, Timothy’s leadership received the initial draft of the purchase agreement from Harvest Baptist Church. Timothy’s attorney and Real Estate Task Force are reviewing it in preparation for a final agreement in place by mid-October.

Copies of the Real Estate Task Force report are available at the Information Center at each campus. Click here to read it.
