As We Gather for Worship This Weekend
Table Scraps

You have to feel sorry for the Canaanite woman in today’s Gospel lesson. She had a problem, she hoped Jesus would be able to help her, and she gets called a dog for her troubles. But she doesn’t give up. She has faith that holds on to the things she’s heard about Jesus. And as a result, she winds up asking for table scraps. Because of her trust, Jesus gives her so much more. And He does the same for us, His dearly loved children, giving us not what we deserve, but what He wants to give us out of love.

Everything You Need

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. Psalm 23′:1

As I watch the devastation of the fires in Maui, I see people searching to fill their daily needs. It fills my prayer life, and I praise God for the wealth He has given me.

As Christians, we have everything we need within our reach. Not wealth or social status, not perfect relationships or dream job.  But everything our soul needs is available right here, right now — in Jesus.

Read Psalm 23 and note the words that express our deepest needs today.

Rest; Strength;  Guidance; God’s presence; Protection; Comfort
Blessings; Goodness; Unfailing love; Living with Jesus forever

All of that and more is available to us when we choose to live life with Jesus, our Good Shepherd. God delights in giving His children all that they need. You are His child. Ask Him. He’s listening.

Next Generation Update

God is moving quickly! The meeting last Friday between Harvest Baptist Church and the party interested in purchasing its property was positive. That party consulted its governing body on Monday and confirmed on Tuesday of this week that the sale is favorable to both organizations. Harvest will contact a real estate attorney to write a contract offer to purchase the RD Mize Campus, the amount of necessary time for which is unknown as of now. The congregation will be updated as further developments occur. Please continue to keep this process in your prayers!

The congregation is invited to stop by the “Free” table in the Rd Mize lobby to “shop” for new items. Thank you!

Raise the Roof Update

Yesterday (Aug. 17), Property Board Chair Louie Wilbers and Gary Flandermeyer met with the City of Blue Springs planning and other related city departments to discuss Timothy’s ideas about the storage building at Wyatt. They report this was a good meeting with favorable feedback about the project. Timothy’s next steps include submitting a site admin plan and permit application for their review. Preliminary renderings are included here, with more details available soon. Please keep this part of the Next Generation process in your prayers as well. Your contributions to fund this project are appreciated, payable to Timothy and designated as “Raise the Roof,” whether by check or on Timothy’s website (click on Give, then Fund). Thank you very much!
