As We Gather for Worship This Weekend
“Joining Jesus: God’s Favorites”

We often go through life thinking that we are God’s favorites. This is usually because of our denomination, or it could be because of our nationality, our politics, our race, or some other factor like that. But the apostle Peter once learned in a dramatic way that God doesn’t have favorites. His grace is available to everyone, which guides our attitudes towards others as well.

Restoration

God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

I picture David face down, vulnerable before the Lord, as his guilt and sorrow pour out from his broken spirit. He was left with nothing but humility, he knew the type of sacrifice God required of him. God wanted his heart.

Our world today makes it tough to appear anything but stoic, perfect, and in complete control. But we know all too well that on the other side of that screen sits a nearly broken spirit. God is far bigger than anything our minds can conceive. We were created to live fully. We must put our unbelief aside and choose to believe that God wants to restore us to a life full of His provision, blessing, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and love. When we are in a place of needing restoration, we can run to the Father now and trust Him with our broken spirit and humbled heart.

Next Generation Update

The congregation is invited to stop by the “free table” in the lobby at RD Mize to pick up usable items from storage areas that will not be stored elsewhere, moved, or discarded. As additional storage areas are cleaned, sorted, and organized over the upcoming weeks, there will be more opportunities for free items.  Contact the church office with questions.
The congregation is also invited to visit the Adult Library (Room 303) and Children’s Library (Room 304) to select books or other materials they would like to own.
