As We Gather for Worship This Weekend
 “THE WAY”

God’s people often find themselves wandering through wildernesses, both literal and metaphorical. It would be easy for them to get lost out in the desert, especially if they try to strike out on their own. But God is always about making a way for His people. And He especially does that by sending His Son to be the Living Way!

Make It Hard to Be Offended: A Devotion

I have a confession to make. When I overhear conversations and feel like the people I care about are being overlooked, I get upset. It used to be my children, but my circle of care has expanded to the people in my church. I can get upset. A lot . . . like a lot a lot. Lord, forgive me.

I love how it states in Colossians 3: 13: Bear with one another and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” As Christians, we are called to forgive. Every day of our lives, we sin against God, and yet He’s quick to show us mercy and grace. God doesn’t burn us, or cancel us, or shame us. God’s treatment of us is the model for how we are to treat one another.

Christians should be the most forgiving people on the face of this planet because we know best what it means to be forgiven.

Ready for Christmas:  There’s a Song in the Air

I was certainly ready for Thanksgiving this year! How about you? You may have gathered with friends and family, or you may have given thanks on your own. Maybe you baked up pies and mashed potatoes, or perhaps your kitchen and home were quiet this year. One thing I am certain of is that the shift from Thanksgiving to Advent Christmas happened quickly!

A week from Sunday is the Choir’s Christmas Worship, “A Song in the Air.” It’s a great way to begin celebrating and worshiping the Baby Jesus, the Savior, the Promised One. The choir will lead the congregation at the 10am Worship Service on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Wyatt Campus. We hope you can join us.

Wherever this season finds you, we pray you feel the nearness of God. He loves you, right where you are, just as you are.

Journey to the Manger

THIS SUNDAY, Dec. 11, is the time to bring all gifts (with tags attached) from the Giving Trees to the front of the worship center at each campus as you enter worship, if you have not already brought them to church.  Thank you for your generous, caring hearts!

TLS Literacy Volunteer Program (“Book Buddies”)

A new, highly successful volunteer program at TLS is off and running! Under the direction of TLS
Interventionist Mary Beth Self, this program pairs an adult with TLS students as an extension of the
Classroom experience. These volunteers may also be seen helping teachers in many other ways, all of which enhance the education of TLS students.

A huge “thank you” to the following volunteers for answering the request to be a Book Buddy or helper:
Sarah Caughey, Lois Domsch, Debbie Johnson, Barb Kalbfleisch, Peggy Kappelman, Diane Knowlton, Mickey Krahenbuhl, Nancy Madden, Diana Pumphrey, Susan Ready, Carol Ready, Joe Sauter, and Lisa Zimmerschied.

The hours you donate each week are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

PTL Santa’s Workshop

The Timothy Lutheran School’s Parent Teacher League (PTL) completed their second quarter fundraiser project this past week; “Santa’s Workshop.” All students, three years old through eighth grade, were given the opportunity to purchase a gift each for his/her mom and dad for Christmas.  Over 350 gifts were donated to the PTL.  Gifts ranged in price from $5.00 – $15.00.  Students were given the opportunity to browse, select and buy the gifts for their parents.  It was my pleasure to see students’ faces light up when they found the perfect gift.  My heart was full as I watched students go through the line, excited to give something special to their parents.  This was the first time the PTL attempted anything like this.  It was a huge success!  Over $2000.00 was raised by the event. The staff and PTL officers extend a heart-felt thank you to everyone who donated.  They also wish to thank the parents who allowed their child(ren) to buy a gift for them.
